Small Pot for Soininen

Level 22 : 50,000/100,000, 10,000 ante

Jason Wheeler dropped into the red zone with just around 10 big blinds remaining,. The American expat, now calling Amsterdam his home when not traveling for poker, limped from the small blind and Niko Soininen checked in the big blind. On the {J-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{9-Hearts} flop both players checked.

Wheeler bet the {7-Hearts} turn for 140,000 and Soininen called before both checked again the {4-Clubs} river. Wheeler showed {K-Diamonds}{5-Spades} for a pair of fives but Soininen had that beat with {8-Hearts}{7-Spades}.

Julian Stuer Eliminated in 8th Place (€43,540)

Level 22 : 50,000/100,000, 10,000 ante
Julian Stuer
Julian Stuer

Julian Stuer open-shoved for less than 500,000 and Jean-Noel Thorel made the call with {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}.

Stuer held {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and was flipping for his tournament life until the {5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} flop made Thorel a set and left him drawing pretty thin.

The {7-Diamonds} turn ended things and the {3-Clubs} river was more salt in the wound as Stuer busted eighth.

Wheeler Folds Again

Level 21 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Jason Wheeler opened to 165,000 from under the gun and the action folded around to Ilari Sahamies in the big blind. The Finn jammed and Wheeler immediately asked for a count. It was 905,000 in total and Wheeler also asked the dealer to pull in the raising chips.

Sahamies tried to guess the hand of his opponent and put pocket nines in the shopping window. Wheeler sat there without emotions and eventually folded after a good four minutes of consideration.

Steve O'Dwyer shoved the button and Byron Kaverman called all in for 650,000.

Isaac Haxton let go of the big blind and the hands were revealed.

Kaverman: {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}
O'Dwyer: {10-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}

Kaverman kept the lead through the {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop and {q-Clubs} turn, but the {j-Spades} river did him in, giving O'Dwyer a bigger pair.

Wheeler Gives up the Turn

Level 21 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Jason Wheeler raised to 205,000 from the small blind and Niko Soininen called from one seat over. On the flop {3-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}, Wheeler continued for 200,000 and Soininen called before the American checked the {6-Hearts} turn. Soininen bet 350,000 and that enforced a fold from Wheeler.

Thorel Shows Queens

Level 21 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Two hands in a row, Jean-Noel Thorel attacked the blinds. In the second hand where the Frenchman had raised to 175,000, Jason Wheeler defended his big blind. On the {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop, Wheeler checked and Thorel continued for 500,000. Wheeler tanked and Steve O'Dwyer did some fitness exercises while the fellow American was still thinking.

Wheeler eventually folded and then patted himself on the back once Thorel showed {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}. He said in table chat he folded pocket nines.

Byron Kaverman opened to 125,000 under the gun and Steve O'Dwyer defended his big blind.

The flop came {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}{3-Clubs} and both players checked. The turn was the {5-Hearts} and after O'Dwyer checked, Kaverman fired out a 125,000-chip bet.

O'Dwyer wasted little time coming back at Kaverman with a check-raise to 350,000 and Kaverman let it go.

Thorel and Kaverman give up Hands

Level 20 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Jean-Noel Thorel opened to 125,000 and PokerStars Team Online member Ike Haxton moved all in from three seats over to enforce folds all around.

Shortly after, Byron Kaverman raised to 130,000 and the action reached Niko Soininen in the big blind. The Finn three-bet to 325,000 and that went through without any further betting action.
