Back in September, Fernando Santa Maria achieved an incredible performance, leading the tournament from beginning to end and winning it for €26,625. And it seems like he didn't want to leave the first place to someone else again today, as he ended up as the chip leader of Day 1c of the Eurasian Poker Tour (EAPT) $2,200 Grand Final.
Here at the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel and Spa in North Cyprus, he bagged 4,110,000 chips and leads a total of 78 players to Day 2. 510 entries were recorded on this third flight, and 307 more on Day 1d Turbo, making a total of 1,565 entrants for this Grand Final.

Among the other chip leaders are also Fabian Quoss (3,445,000) or Gabriel Akiki (3,360,000), who won a massive pot with aces during the last minutes of the Day. But the pot could have been bigger if Ihar Soika hadn't fold queens preflop. Anyway, thanks to his move, Soika also managed to qualify with 920,000 chips.
Gheorghe Butuc made his way to the next step with 2,340,000 chips, as well a WSOP winners Boris Kolev (1,950,000) and Yuliyan Kolev (1,450,000). Niall Farrell bagged 1,320,000 chips, which is a little bit less than EPT Monte-Carlo finalist Jovan Kenjic (1,585,000), but more than Kuljinder Sidhu (1,165,000), Cédric Schwaederle (945,000) or Tobias Peters (920,000) who won a three-way all-in and call situation with aces before dinner break to reach one million chips.
EPT champion Alessio Isaia will also be back on Say 2, as well as Renji Mao (705,000) or Dzmitry Urbanovich (665,000).
Day 1s survivors will combine on Tuesday, May 7th at noon local time for Day 2. Action will resume at Level 16 with blinds at 20,000/40,00 with a 40,00 big blind ante. Levels will be 50 minutes in length with a break scheduled every two levels.
As always, stay tuned to PokerNews for continued coverage of this Eurasian Poker Tour (EAPT) $2,200 Grand Final!
