Medina Check-Raises the Flop

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Jon Cohen opened to 40,000 on the button and was called by George Medina, who defended his big blind. The flop came {j-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} and Medina checked to Cohen, who made a continuation-bet of 30,000.

Medina put in a check-raise to 80,000 and Cohen thought for about 20 seconds before looking back at his cards and tossing them to the muck.

Zoller and Freedman Take from Jesse

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Nate Zoller was involved in a three-bet pot against Jay Jesse that involved winning with a bet of 130,000 on a flop of {4-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{10-Spades} versus Jay Jesse. Jesse was under the gun and Zoller was in middle position.

A few hand later, Wendy Freedman opened to 35,000 on the button. Jay Jesse was in the big blind and three-bet to 95,000. Freedman peeled.

The flop came {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{q-Hearts} and Jesse put out a continuation-bet of 75,000. Freedman quietly announced a raise, sliding out a total of 225,000. Jesse thought for a bit and folded.

Welcome To Day 3 of the August 2019 Colorado Poker Championship $1,100 Main Event

The August 2019 Colorado Poker Championship Main Event has reached the final table of nine. After seeing record setting fields across the entire three-week-long series, the Main Event proved no different. The tournament saw 330 entries over three initial starting flights, a 25-percent increase from last August’s Main Event.

Coming into the final table with the chip lead is Barb Visher, who enters the day with a nearly 150-big blind stack of 2.399 million. With $6,594 in lifetime earnings coming into the day, Visher’s final table appearance guarantees she will more than double that number, though her eyes are set on the top prize of $73,621.

Visher is followed in the counts by Nate Zoller (2.069 million), who is the only other player over 2 million in chips. Day 1c chip leader Jay Jesse finds himself third in chips with just over 1 million, just ahead of Jon Cohen, who finished Day 2 with 996,000 in chips.

The rest of the field is bundled together, with Wendy Freedman (621,000) looking up at everybody else. Freedman has over $1.1 million in lifetime earnings and is still largely in contention, as the fantastic structure for this tournament leaves her coming into the final table with just under 40 big blinds.

Cards are in the air at 11 a.m. local time with 17:21 remaining on the clock in Level 22 (8,000/16,000/16,000). Levels are one-hour in length until the tournament reaches heads-up play, at which point they will reduce to 30 minutes until a champion has been crowned.

Also up for grabs are 10 seats to Wednesday’s $2,500 High Roller event. These seats will be awarded to the top 10 players in the series-long points leader board, and the points awarded for the top finishers will surely result in multiple players getting a free entry into the event.

PokerNews will be providing updates as the final table unfolds, so be sure to stick around to find out who reigns supreme when all is said and done.
