Dinner Break!

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

The remaining players have been sent off on a 30-minute dinner break. Play will resume with the start of Level 19 at approximately 7:20 p.m. local time in Melbourne.

Salsberg Rising

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Matt Salsberg first won a flip with pocket fives versus ace-king (flop Ace, river five) and then flat-called a raise to 20,000 with pocket queens. Behind him was a raise to 55,000 and Salsberg's shove for 200,000 was called by Sam Ruha with pocket nines. No suckout on the board and the TV producer doubled up.

Salter Sinks Scagnetti

Level 18 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Adriano Scagnetti's fall from grace is now complete.

Louis Salter raised from late position, Scagnetti three-bet the small blind and Salter shoved in. Scagnetti tanked, shrugged and called off his last 100,00-plus with the AJ. He was flipping versus Salter's 1010.

The board ran out 34KK2, taking Scagnetti with it

Koutsouvelis Busts Two

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

In a three-way all in situation, Stephen Koutsouvelis was huge favorite against Aleksandar Angelevski and Pryce Pincott.

Pincott: {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}
Angelevski: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}
Koutsouvelis: {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}

The flop {Q-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} changed nothing whatsoever while Angelevski's jacks were worthless after the {10-Spades} turn, as that would have given Pincott a straight with three almost even stacks. The {7-Hearts} on the river shipped the entire pot to Koutsouvelis and his rail let out some "pass the sugar" chants.

Rao Leads!

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Kings vs Queens
Kings vs Queens

Hon Cheong Lee is out and Aditya Rao is the first player past the one-million-chip mark and into the lead after a massive confrontation just played out at their table.

They got about 200,000 in the middle preflop before Lee led 85,000 into the {2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{6-Clubs} flop. Rao made it 175,000, Lee shoved huge and Rao called it off with the {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}.

Rao was on the right end of this massive cooler as Lee held the {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}. The board ran out {4-Spades}{8-Hearts}, Rao's kings held and as he took the lead, Lee said his goodbyes.

Nguyen Loses Flip

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Phares Bouya opened to 22,000 and Tong Nguyen moved all in for 72,000 from one seat over. Bouya asked the dealer for a count and then made the call for the 50,000 more with {6-Hearts}{6-Spades}. Nguyen held the {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}, but found no help on the flop {5-Clubs}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}.

Instead, Bouya even had straight outs and scooped the pot thanks to the {J-Spades} turn and {4-Spades} river.

De Melo Doubles

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Daniel Neilson experiences somewhat of a roller coaster as of lately, as he keeps winning chips and then doubling shorter stacks. Just now, Andre de Melo shoved for 135,000 and Neilson flat-called from the button with {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}. De Melo had the usual coin flip with {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} and got there on the flop of a board {K-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades}.
