Tam Shortens

We haven't seen too much action from Tam Truong at this final table, but is still alive and kicking, albeit sitting with considerably less chips than he started the day with.

Angood Is Good

A three-bet pot saw a {5-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} flop hit the felt with Brendon Rubie going head-to-head with Rob Angood. At this point Rubie check-called a bet of 204,000 from Angood and a {k-Spades} was dealt on the turn. This time both players checked and the {7-Spades} hit the river.

Rubie again checked and this time Angood bet 427,000. Rubie though for a couple of minutes before deciding to fold, sending the nice little pot to Angood.

Sherif Derias Eliminated in 7th Place ($29,000 AUD)

Rob Angood raised under the gun and Sherif Derias defended from the big blind. When the flop came down {9-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{6-Hearts}, Derias check-called a bet of 82,000, leading to the {4-Hearts} turn. This time Derias lead out for 200,000, which Angood called.

When the {8-Clubs} appeared on the river, Derias moved all in and Angood snap-called, and we mean a lightning-fast snap-call, and showed {Q-Diamonds}{J-Spades} for the nuts. Derias simply mucked as he made his in seventh place.

Kings No Match for Stavropoulos

Manny Stavropoulos shipped all in preflop for about 350,000 and Brendon Rubie snap-called from the big blind.

Showdown
Rubie: {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}
Stavropoulos: {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}

Rubie had woke up with a monster hand and left Stavropoulos in need of some help, which he found as he paired his ace on the {2-Spades}{A-Spades}{6-Spades} flop. Suddenly Rubie needed a king to eliminate Stavropoulos, but it didn't happen as the {7-Clubs} hit the turn followed by the {9-Clubs} on the river.

Rubie Take From Truong

Tam Truong opened from middle position and found a called in Brendon Rubie in the hijack. The rest of the players got out of the way and it was heads up to the {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} flop, which went check-check.

The dealer then burned and turned the {2-Hearts}, which saw Rubie call a bet of 100,000 from Truong. When the {9-Diamonds} appeared on the river, Truong checked and Rubie moved all in, putting the pressure on Day 1a chip leader. Truong gave it a few moment's thought but eventually laid down his hand.

Big Stacks Battle

Brendon Rubie opened for 61,000 from the button and was met with a three-bet to 200,000 by Scott Wilson in the big blind. Not to be outdone, Rubie four-bet 190,000 more and Wilson called, leading to the {2-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{A-Spades} flop.

At this point, Wilson slid out a stack of chocolate T25,000 chips for a bet of about 450,000. Rubie thought for about 40 seconds, intently staring down his opponent, before laying down his hand. Without missing a beat, Wilson flipped over {6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for complete air, showing that he has some moves of his own.
