Even More Chips for Puchalski

Level 27 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Nevan Chang raised to 200,000 in the small blind and Akshay Kapoor called in the big blind.

On a {k-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop, Chang bet 110,000 and Kapoor snap-folded. "I would have called one big blind," he joked.

Alexander Puchalski then raised next as the first player to act and was called by Renniel Galvez in the big blind. The {6-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop was checked and Galvez bet the {q-Diamonds} turn for 150,000, picking up a call. After the {j-Clubs} river, Galvez checked and Puchalski announced a bet of 420,000. Before the chips hit the felt, Galvez had already snap-folded.

Akshay Kapoor raised the button and Alexander Puchalski defended the big blind. Puchalski elected to check the {k-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop and then call a bet worth 75,000. The {q-Diamonds} turn was checked by both and Puchalski bet the {j-Hearts} river for 320,000.

Kapoor verified the bet size and then called to get shown {10-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for a straight, exposing his pocket aces for a brief second.

"I lost the minimum there ... we live to fight another day," the Indian added shortly after.

The final four players are now on a scheduled ten-minute break.

Renniel Galvez, Akshay Kapoor and Nevan Chang won the last three pots before the break without showdown.

Quoc Dinh Nguyen Eliminated in 5th Place ($28,165)

Level 26 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Quoc Dinh Nguyen
Quoc Dinh Nguyen

Quoc Dinh Nguyen open-shoved for 1,030,000 on the button and Nevan Chang asked for a count to then call in the small blind.

Quoc Dinh Nguyen: {a-Clubs}{8-Hearts}
Nevan Chang: {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}

The {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop gave Nguyen some back door equity and Chang murmured "no heart and no high card". What followed was the {j-Diamonds} turn on which Nguyen had outs to counterfeit the pair of Chang.

"Five, four, three," Chang continued and one of those cards appeared with the {5-Spades} river as Nguyen's run ended in fifth place for $28,165.

The Small Pots Continue

Level 26 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Akshay Kapoor opened to 100,000 in the cutoff and was called by Quoc Dinh Nguyen in the big blind. On the {a-Spades}{k-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop, Nguyen check-called a min-bet and they checked down the {4-Clubs} turn as well as the {5-Diamonds} river.

"Jack high," Nguyen announced and rolled over the {j-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. "I block all your bluffs," Kapoor responded and won the pot with the {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}, then confirmed to Alexander Puchalski he would have called a small bet.

In the next hand, Renniel Galvez opened to 100,000 and Nevan Chang called from the big blind. They checked to the {k-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} river on which Chang check-called a bet worth 85,000. Galvez tabled the {a-Spades}{q-Hearts} and that won the pot.

Chris Backhouse Eliminated in 6th Place ($21,681)

Level 26 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Chris Backhouse
Chris Backhouse

Akshay Kapoor raised to 100,000 in the cutoff and Alexander Puchalski called out of the small blind. Chris Backhouse then jammed for 700,000 in the big blind and Kapoor got out of the way while Puchalski came along with the covering stack.

Chris Backhouse: {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Alexander Puchalski: {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}

"King queen is a good hand," Backhouse said in the table chat and it was indeed a fair fight. However, the {10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{3-Spades}{10-Spades} board delivered no help to the Englishman and Backhouse had to settle for sixth place and $21,681.
