Weekend Preview

The upcoming weekend has some fantastic tournaments for you to get your teeth into. There are so many massive tournaments taking place that it was difficult to select a trio to feature in our Weekend Preview. We managed, however, and chose three big bounty events taking place at partypoker, PokerStars, and Betfair Poker.

WPT World Championship Heads Into Knockout Week

partypoker is the place to be if you want to play for a $4.3 million worth of PKO tournaments this weekend. The WPT World Online Championships continue to awards some mega prizes and more of the same is expected this weekend. The WPTWOC switches to Knockout week meaning its biggest tournaments are played with a PKO format.

Three Championship Events shuffle up and deal on August 15. They have buy-ins of $33, $320, and $3,200. For those amounts you get to play for a share of a guaranteed $300,000, $1 million, and $3 million repsectively.

All three Championship Events have a pair of starting flights, late registration open until the end of Level 9 and only one re-entry per flight permitted.

Cards are in the air from 8:00 p.m. CEST on August 15 with Day 1B commencing at the same time on August 16. Day 2 also starts at 8:00 p.m. CEST but on August 17 and the final day gets underway at the same time on August 18.

Satellites, WPT SPINS, and Mega Sats are available for all three of these huge events, which make it possible to play for big money for a tiny outlay.

Sunday Bounty Builder High Roller Boosts Guarantee to $1 Million

PokerStars has boosted the guaranteed prize pool of its Sunday Bounty Builder High Roller to a cool $1 million for the August 16 edition. This two-day event starts at 6:30 p.m. CEST prompt and everyone who has paid $530 to buy-in or won their seat via the many available satellites, sits down with 25,000 chips.

Blinds start at 125/250/30a, increasing every 20-minutes. Day 1 ends eight-hours after the first cards are pitched and late registration remains open for 3.75 hours. Up to two re-entries are available if your initial buy-in doesn’t go to place.

Each opponent you send to the rails nets you at least $125, meaning you only need to bust four foes to show a profit, and that’s if you don’t make it into the money places of the tournament.

Dozens of satellites run between now and the Bounty Builder High Roller starting, some as cheap as $22. The best value satellites are the trio of Mega Sats taking place from 4:05 p.m. CEST on August 16. A brace of these have 15x $530 seats guaranteed with one awarding at least 25 seats!

Turn €10 Into a Shot at a €30,000 Prize Pool

Betfair Poker is getting in on the PKO action this weekend with its Main Sunday Sweat tournament. Unless you win your seat via one of the €10 buy-in satellites, competing in the Main Sunday Sweat will set you back €100.

For this princely sum you’ll receive a generous helping of 10,000 chips and play to a 10-minute clock where blinds start at 25/50/4a. All play takes place on 8-Max tables and only one re-entry is permitted so you need to be careful to make your chips counts.

As this is a bounty tournament you’ll scoop no less than €45.50 each time you felt an opponent. Two eliminations and you’re all but freerolling towards a main prize pool prize.
