Poker players from around the world will start the year off with a bang in sunny Marrakech.

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) continues its association with the luxurious Casino de Marrakech, located in the heart of the Es Saadi Marrakech Resort, with the ten-day WSOP Circuit Marrakech on Jan. 10-19, 2020.

The schedule features 24 action-packed tournaments and 10 events where players can win a coveted WSOP Circuit gold ring. Of course, there will also be cash games running around the clock making this a can't miss festival for recreational and professional poker players alike.

WSOP Circuit Marrakech Main Event - Jan. 16-19

The highlight of the festival is, of course, the WSOP Circuit Marrakech Main Event featuring a 15,000 MAD (approx. €1,400) buy-in.

The tournament is a deep-stacked affair with players starting with 30,000 in chips and blinds increasing every 45 minutes during the two opening flights on Jan. 16-17.

Players will have plenty of opportunities to accumulate a monster stack with unlimited re-entries permitted during the first nine blind levels of both opening flights.

Those that bag chips will play in an even deeper structure of one-hour blind levels starting on Day 2 on Jan. 18. Players that survive Day 2 will compete for one final day on Jan. 19 until a winner is crowned.

The Casino de Marrakech hosted two WSOP Circuit festivals during 2019. France's Sonny Franco outlasted a field of 544 entrants in January 2019 to win the WSOP Circuit Marrakech Main Event for 1,500,000 MAD ($156,862) to win his fourth career WSOP Circuit ring.

Phillip Huxley wins the WSOPC Marrakech Main Event in June 2019.

The festival returned in June 2019 for a special 50th-anniversary edition when United Kingdom's Phillip Huxley bested a field of 359 entrants to win 947,780 ($99,632) after agreeing to a heads-up deal with Portugal's André Marques.

On top of their rings and huge top prizes, both Franco and Huxley also won a seat worth $10,000 to the WSOP Global Casino Championship held in August.

As has been tradition, the Main Event winner this year along with the WSOP Circuit Marrakech Leaderboard winner will also win seats to the 2020 WSOP Global Poker Championship at Harrah's Cherokee in North Carolina in August 2020.

Players looking to qualify for the Main Event can secure themselves a €2,000 package via satellites and feeder tournaments starting at just €1.10 at PMU.fr. In addition, players can win a Main Event seat for a fraction of the cost during the festival through live satellites.

Plenty of Side Events

While the Main Event is certainly the biggest attraction to many players, there is plenty of other tournaments to choose from with the schedule boasting nine other ring events with buy-ins as low as €180 and satellites as cheap as just €45.

Some of the bigger events include the 4,500 MAD (€420) WSOPC Grand Opener on Jan. 10-12, the 6,000 MAD (€560) WSOPC Deepstack on Jan. 14-15, the 20,000 MAD (€1,900) WSOP Circuit High Roller on Jan. 15-16, the 6,000 MAD (€560) WSOPC Monsterstack on Jan. 18-19, and the 30,000 MAD (€2,800) WSOPC Super High Roller on Jan. 19.

If you can't find your way to the sun and palm trees of Marrakech this winter you will still be able to follow the action as a live stream will be broadcasted across the Casino de Marrakech's social networks. In addition, PokerNews will be live reporting the Main Event in its entirety.
