The Charity Series of Poker (CSOP) is fresh off its Folded Flag Foundation event at the Run It Up Reno IX – Jon Pardy topped a 103-entry field to win a $5,000 top prize – and now Matt Stout and company are turning their attention to partnering with the Raiders Foundation to host a Charity Poker Tournament benefitting the Nevada Youth Football League.
While they’re currently the Oakland Raiders, next year the team will relocate to Las Vegas. On Thursday, October 24 poker players, fans, Raiders Alumni, Raiderettes, and other Raiders personalities will gather at The Stirling Club (2827 Paradise Road) in Las Vegas for a $500 buy-in Charity Poker Tournament. It marks the 26th event in the history of the CSOP but the first in conjunction with the Raiders Foundation.
“I’ve been an NFL fan for many years, so it’s going to be a lot of fun bringing together the Raiders fan base and the poker community."
There will be a food and cocktail reception from 5-6:30 p.m., while the tournament, which will ultimately award the winner a seat into the 2020 World Series of Poker Main Event, will begin at 6:30 p.m. The chip leader after the first break will receive a $1,000 cash bonus, as will the player with the most rebuys/add-ons.
Those who wish to attend just the reception can do so for $200. There will also be a silent auction at RaidersFDN.givesmart.com. Proceeds from the event will benefit Nevada Youth Football League, a nonprofit that facilitates various competitions for both football and cheer to approximately 1,000 youth, ages 5-14, year-round.
“The Charity Series of Poker is honored to be working with the Raiders Foundation as they join the Las Vegas community and begin fundraising for local programs,” Stout told PokerNews. “I’ve been an NFL fan for many years, so it’s going to be a lot of fun bringing together the Raiders fan base and the poker community to benefit some great local Nevada programs like Nevada Youth Football League.”
Among those slated to attend are the WPT’s Vince Van Patten, power poker couple Chris Moorman and Katie Lindsay, Lexy Gavin, Frank Kassela, Tyler Patterson, Dan Heimiller, and Amanda Baker.
