2019 Poker King Cup Taiwan

The 2019 Poker King Cup Taiwan takes place at the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association in Taipei, Taiwan, between Aug. 16-20. The event sees nine side tournaments complement the TWD 6 million (US$190,725) guaranteed Poker King Cup Main Event.

A bumper crowd is expected for the Poker King Cup Taiwan Main Event that features three starting flights, each costing TWD 27,500 (US$875) to buy into. This will be the first Poker King Cup Main Event hosted in Taiwan, and the organizers are pulling out all the stops to ensure it's a poker tournament to remember.

To hit the guarantee, at least 240 players need to buy in, which should not be a problem when you look at Poker King Cup Main Events held elsewhere in the past. The Poker King Cup held in Manila, the Philippines in 2016 saw 279 entries, with a field of 490 and 518 competing in Macau in 2017 and 2018.

Day 1A of the Poker King Cup Taiwan takes place at 1:00 p.m. local time on Aug. 16 with Day 1B and Day 1C scheduled for the same time on Aug. 17 and Aug. 18. The same time is reserved for the start of Day 2 and the final day’s play on Aug. 19 and Aug. 20.

That said, there is a High Roller tournament commanding a TWD 86,000 buy-in (US$2,725) that is likely to be reserved for richer recreational players and seasoned professional poker players.

The festival takes place at the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association in Taipei, Taiwan, a venue that can accommodate 250 players at the same time. Only tournaments are available at the venue as cash games are illegal under local laws.
