PokerStars Carnaval Series to Kick Off in Southern European Market
Coming off the heels of a record €20 million guaranteed Winter Series on the PokerStars Southern Europe shared liquidity network, the momentum continues as PokerStars launches a new series for the region in February. While individuals the world over prepare for upcoming Carnaval celebrations, poker players in Italy, Spain, France and Portugal can get in the mood with an online poker series in the festival's name.
The first-ever Carnaval Series will hit the Southern European PokerStars networks in February, with two separate series taking place. For those in Spain, France and Portugal, the Carnaval Series will run from Feb. 3 through Feb. 18 with €10 million in prize pools guaranteed across 166 events.
Carnaval Series Highlights
One of the series highlights will be the €250 Main Event on Feb. 17, which will guarantee a cool €1 million total prize pool. That stands as the biggest buy-in on the slate, the event buy-ins start as low as €5.
Another big value event on the schedule is the €30 Masquerade on Feb. 18, offering up a guarantee of €100,000. There will also be two €250 buy-in Sunday Specials guaranteeing €250,000 each on Feb. 3 and 10, as well as a €50 Warm-Up before the Main Event on Feb. 17 that features a guaranteed prize pool of €225,000.
Italy's Carnival Series
Italy will be having its own party with the Carnival Series running Feb. 10-25. The Italians will play for a combined €5 million in prize pools across 110 events, their €250 Main Event taking place on Feb. 24 with a guarantee of €500,000.
The new series continues to demonstrate the increased guarantees that have come with shared liquidity in Southern Europe that launched just under a year ago.
“Off the back of a very successful Winter Series, we plan to keep up momentum for our Southern European players by kicking off 2019 with something new,” said Severin Rasset, director of poker innovation and operations at The Stars Group. “We look forward to players of all levels joining us and getting in the carnaval spirit.”
The Stars Group owns a majority shareholding in iBus Media.
