Sunday Briefing: Two Sunday Victories for Jonathan Gill
The majority of online poker tournaments players would be more than happy with winning a Sunday major, boosting their bankroll and gaining kudos in equal measure. So imagine how the United Kingdom’s Jonathan Gill is feeling right now because he won not one, but two major tournaments online on Sunday.
Gill finished on top of a 435-strong field in the partypoker $55 no-limit hold’em rebuy Powerfest event in the early hours of Monday morning to book a $10,801.61 win. He then went on to win the PokerStars $215 Bounty Builder for $17,560.37 and an additional $15,500 in bounty payments.
Not content with crushing those two tournaments, Gill also made it through to Day 2 of the $215 Sunday Warm-Up WCOOP edition where he ended the night third from the remaining 116 players, and in with a legitimate shot of the $192,390.80 first place prize.

The largest score at partypoker this weekend weighed in at $53,197.17, which was the first place prize of the $2,600 Super High Roller that Joao “joaosimaobh” Paulo Simao won this week. The more affordable $530 High Roller saw “BetinOleg” come out on top to win $45,141.25, while $150,000 guaranteed Main Event crowned “speed_boum” as its champion and awarded a $26,766.37 top prize.
Over to 888poker now where British grinder Mat “checktrap11” Cuthbertson walked away with the $37,608.66 first place prize in the $600 buy-in $120,000 Whale tournament; this win takes Cuthbertson towards $1.25 million in online winnings.
Also at 888poker, the $120,000 Mega Deep ended in a heads-up chop between eventual champion “Bumbi320” and “Zluka2010” who banked $26,438.74 and $24,92.06 respectively, while “RomaTilt” triumphed in the $50,000 Crocodile and locked up $15,252.30.
Lastly for the 888poker results, and this week’s Sunday Briefing, a shout out to Brazil’s “nitgmmator” who won the $80,000 Sunday Challenge for a cool $18,123.92.
