Poker on a tablet

Although the majority of online poker players use a laptop or a desktop computer to play poker, the continued popularity of tablets, such as Apple’s iPad, mean than the number of mobile poker players is also rising.

Playing poker from a tablet may not be ideal for those of you who prefer dozens of tables on your screen at any one time, but they are perfect for kicking back and playing between one and four tables at once, whether you're in your favorite armchair or on the move.

The first poker apps for tablets were not exactly great. They were, for the most part, void of features you’d come to expect from their desktop equivalent: the graphics were not pleasing to the eye and they felt cumbersome to play.

Fast forward to today’s offerings and some of the best places to play poker on your tablet look and feel exactly the same as the downloadable poker client you have on your computers, allowing you to play multiple tables, and even manage your account using your tablet.

PokerStars

The world’s largest online poker site also happens to be the best place to play poker on your tablet. Available in Android and iOS, the PokerStars mobile app looks and feels almost exactly like the desktop version.

You can play up to five tables on an iPad – four on Android devices – and almost all of your favorite cash games, sit-n-go tournaments, multi-table tournaments and even Spin & Go tournaments are ready and waiting for you to play on your tablet.

Available games include hold ’em, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, 5 Card Omaha, 7 Card Stud, Razz and Courchevel, a much wider selection than PokerStars’ rivals.

partypoker

In late August 2016, partypoker overhauled its mobile poker app making it perfect for playing poker on a table. Players can now play up to four tables of cash games, sit-n-go tournaments, jackpot Sit & Go Hero tournaments or multi-table tournaments simultaneously.

Other tablet-friendly features include being able to open similar tables with one tap of the screen and being able to tap or swipe between tables, making multi-tabling poker on your tablet a breeze.

888poker

888poker has a superb tablet poker app, but it only allows hold ’em games to be played. That said, you can choose between six-handed and full-ring cash games, 888poker’s “fast-fold” poker variant Snap Poker, the exciting Blast Poker and multi-table tournaments.

PKR

PKR actually has two mobile poker apps (a 3D and 2D version) and both are perfect for playing poker on your tablet because the larger screen allows you to take in the fantastic visuals, which are probably the best graphics of any online poker mobile app.

Again, like PKR’s rivals, you can play in cash games, sit-n-go tournaments and multi-table tournaments, and play multiple tables of poker from your tablet wherever you have a WiFi or mobile internet connection available to use.
