The World Cup of Cards at Playground is a 4-week long poker festival like no other!

The inaugural World Cup of Cards (WCC) at the Playground Poker Club in Montreal is coming up, boasting 28 different events from August 18 through September 14 with a massive $2,000,000 in combined guaranteed prizes. The cluster of big events makes for a grinder's heaven in comparison to only just a few events on the yearly poker schedule.

The $170 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em Quantum event is kicking things off on August 18 and runs throughout the entire festival, with the action playing down to a winner on September 14. Don't worry if you're not able to take the entire month off, as there's a total of 10 starting days with the last one taking place on September 12. There are four different buy-in options for Day 1, each with its own characteristics - or you can just choose to buy in directly to Day 2! With a $200,000 guarantee, there’s sure to be a ton of value in the Quantum at the WCC! Players may enter each Day 1 once and everyone who qualifies for Day 2 will cash out $400 at the end of Day 1.

The $600 buy-in World Poker Tour National event that starts August 19 is another event with a plethora of starting days. You can buy-in up to seven times and you can make it into the money every single time. The event will play down till just five percent of the field remains - but 12 percent of the field will be paid, so payouts will begin on each Day 1!

The Players Poker Championship on September 5 and 6 is a $330 tournament with a slight twist: 20 percent of the prize pool is awarded to the top spots in the tournament in the form of packages to the PPC Aruba World Championship in November! A unique opportunity to win your way into a fantastic event that’s turning heads throughout the poker world.

The CPPT World Cup of Cards is part of Season IV of the Card Player Poker Tour. It's a three-day no-limit hold’em tournament with two starting days and a huge $400,000 guarantee! The buy-in is $1,650 and since it's a next-day reentry tournament, you have two shots at a chunk of the guaranteed prize pool.

Another big one is The Grand Prix Poker Tour (GPPT), and it's headed to Canada for the first time! The GPPT is a tour created by partypoker that features an innovative live and online crossover format. There will be eight Canadian Grand Prix starting flights during the World Cup of Cards, but there will also be 20 online starting flights as well! With a $500,000 guaranteed prize pool for just a $109 buy-in, this might be the best value in global poker today! Didn't manage to bag chips on Day 1? No problem! Pending available seating, players will be allowed to buy-in on Day 2 prior to the start of the tournament. Buying-into Day 2 directly costs $1,100 and gets you a stack of 200,000 chips. Don't rely solely on a Day 2 buy-in, though, as seating is capped at 560 players!

By far the biggest buy-in event on the schedule is the 3-day $5,400 no limit hold'em 8-max event. It boasts a $150,000 guaranteed prize pool and runs September 9-11.

One last event worth mentioning is the All-Stars for Starlight event. Join Larry Robinson at Playground Poker Club from August 26-28 in this charity event. This is big event poker at a price anyone can afford - and you'll do some good for the community while you play. The $25 tournament fee will be donated to the Starlight Children's Foundation Canada, a charitable organization dedicated to bringing laughter, joy, and hope back into the lives of children with serious illnesses. The event is a $135+25 NL Hold'em Re-entry tournament with a huge $100,000 guaranteed prize pool!

TonyBet will be the title sponsor of the spectacular charity event. To make this event even more attractive, TonyBet is adding an extra 25% to the prize pool. Players can qualify for the extra 25% in the prize pool by making a minimum deposit on TonyBet using the bonus code ‘Starlight25’. 1st place will get an extra $2,000, 2nd to 10th place an extra $1,000 and there's 25% extra in the prize pool for all other cashes.

Hockey legend Larry Robinson will be hosting the event and said "Starlight is a wonderful charitable foundation that helps bring joy to the lives of sick children and their families. It is a wonderful cause that I am proud to support and I am thankful to Playground and TonyBet for helping make this event a reality again this year."

A Tonybet spokesman said: "We couldn't be more thrilled to be a part of the World Cup of Cards. The concept is fantastic and we think it has an exciting future. What makes it even better is it is also a great opportunity to help raise money for charity."

There's also online satellites and many promotions where TonyBet members can win seats to events as well WCC tournament dollars. Check out all the information at TonyBet.com.

A deluge of smaller events fills the schedule, with amongst others a $170 bounty builder, a 5-card Omaha event, a crazy pineapple tournament and a dealer's choice event. Really, the schedule is just too action filled to have them all listed here, so head over to the Playground Poker Club website and check out the full schedule. PokerNews will be on site from the first flop of the Quantum Day 1a on Thursday, August 18, till the last river of the same event on Wednesday, September 14.
