WCOOP Day 23: Tyson "POTTERPOKER" Marks Wins WCOOP Main Event
After three weeks of intense and exciting tournament poker, the 2010 2010 World Championship of Online Poker at PokerStars reached its end with Tyson "POTTERPOKER" Marks dominating the final table of the Main Event to win the first-place prize of $2,278,097.50. Marks entered the final table with not only the chip lead, but with nearly three times as many chips as second place. From there, it was smooth sailing for Marks. He eliminated the eighth- and ninth-place finishers quickly and never looked back.
With a 5:1 heads-up chip lead and the blinds and antes at the 100,000/200,000/25,000 level, Marks closed it out. His opponent, joeysweetp, opened with a small raise on the button and Marks called from the big blind. The flop came down J♥8♣2♥ and Marks led out for just more than half the pot, getting a call from joeysweetp. The K♥ hit the turn and Marks again fired a similar bet of just more than half the pot. This time joeysweetp moved all in, only to get snap-called by Marks who tabled A♥4♥ for the nuts. It was over right then and there as joeysweetp's 10♠7♦ had no shot. The 10♦ river card was merely a formality, sealing the deal for Marks and cementing his place in online poker history.
