UBOC5: Corey Burbick Final Tables Event #15; Event #16 Cancelled 0001

UltimateBet and Absolute Poker are currently hosting the fifth installment of the Ultimate Bet Online Poker Championship Series. The UBOC5 is a series of 20 tournaments offering a combined $4 million in guaranteed prize money. Two tournaments were scheduled to take place on Thursday, Event #15 $300 + $20 Sniper No-Limit Hold’em and Event #16 $200 + $15 Limit Omaha 8 or Better, but Event #16, and it’s Mini-UBOC counterpart, did not take place. “Players who showed up to play in my UBOC event last night were disappointed, and we’re embarrassed and apologetic that a technical glitch caused the tournament cancellation, and came between them and the $50K Guarantee,” said UB’s Cardroom ConsultantAnnie Duke. “All players have since been refunded for both my event and the Mini-UBOC Limit Omaha 8 or Better, plus we’re doing all we can to make amends running two separate freerolls for these players on Sunday, awarding seats to the UBOC  Championship $1 Million GTD, and the all-new Mini-UBOC Championship event.”

All players registered in the UBOC#16 are invited to a freeroll on Sunday, August 29th at 13:00 EDT. The top nine places win a $1000 + $50 seat for the $1 Million GTD UBOC Championship Monster Stack No-Limit Hold'em Main Event. Places 10 through 18 earn a $50 + $5 seat for the Mini-UBOC Championship $50K GTD. All players registered in the Mini-UBOC Event #16 are invited to a freeroll on Sunday, August 29th at 13:00 EDT. The top 20 finishers earn a ticket to the Mini-UBOC Championship Monster Stack $50K GTD.

Even though Event #16 was a no go, Event #15 managed to attract amateur and professional players from around the world. In addition, the Mini-UBOC, which runs simultaneously with the UBOC and offers the same tournament at one-tenth the price, served as an excellent option for those with a limited bankroll. The winner of each UBOC tournament not only received a nice payday, but a championship watch. In addition, anyone who eliminated a Team UB pro received $200 and a UBOC T-shirt.

The $300 + $20 Sniper No-Limit Hold’em tournament put a $30 bounty on each player’s head, had a $150,000 guaranteed prize pool, and drew 429 players, including UB pros “Hollywood Dave” Stann (281st), Joe Sebok (244th), Gary “DEBO 34” Debernardi (164th), Phil Hellmuth (157th), Brandon Cantu (110th), and Annie Duke who finished just outside the money (49th). While these pros failed to cash, Mark “Poker Ho” Kroon represented Team UB well by surviving the money bubble and cashing in 37th place. Both David “DCHUSTLER” Cahill (6th) and Corey “CMB8757” Burbick (4th) made final table appearances, but couldn’t claim victory. BUZZMERCHANT earned that distinction when he bested DEDA35 in heads-up action and collected the $37,425 first-place prize.
