In the 948th episode of the PokerNews Podcast, Chad Holloway, Mike Holtz, and Ben Ludlow are back to discuss a new theory involving what might be the real reason behind authorities investigating The Lodge in Texas. It focuses more on the financial side of things, specifically the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) as opposed to actual poker and alcohol. Could it be the real reason for the raid?
Plus, an update from The Lodge in which they made an unfortunate announcement that they would be closing for the foreseeable future and laying off their staff.
The trio then takes a look at the viral bustout hand at PokerStars Open Philadelphia, offers their thoughts on Triton Tempo, and watches Kelly Lucas slowroll Phil Hellmuth on an episode of Hellmuth's Home Game.
Finally, the crew discusses the passing of David Sklansky, the author of the game-changing book The Theory of Poker, and the complicated legacy he leaves behind.
Find out all about those stories and more in this week's episode of the PokerNews Podcast! Oh, and be sure to check out the audio version of the PokerNews Podcast that is available on all major podcasting platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and SoundCloud.
The $109 SCOOP Main Event ended in a three-handed deal that saw those deal-makers collect a combined $403,183. It took four days to reduce the 16,883-strong field to a single player: "Pitinnnn" of Brazil, the $109 SCOOP Main Event champion.
"Pitinnnn"'s victory was the result of an epic comeback. They returned to the action as the second-shortest stack at the nine-handed final table. However, they didn't allow their perilous position to distract them from the task at hand, and they emerged as a worthy champion.
A deal was struck with only three players remaining. Brazil's Rafael "Rafa Prado" Prado banked $126,911 before falling in third place, with start-of-the-day chip leader "DJMiWez" falling at the final hurdle but not before guaranteeing themselves $138,485.
The night and the tournament belonged to "Pitinnnn" who received the winner's trophy and a bankroll-boosting $137,787 for their $109 investment.

Brazil's "xrenanx182" had $391,389 reasons to celebrate on March 25 after coming out on top in the $1,050 SCOOP Main Event. The tournament drew a 2,673-strong crowd, who created a $2,673,000 prize pool, far larger than the advertised $2 million guarantee.
Each of the nine finalists locked in a $26,092 score, but each had their eye on the top prize worth just shy of $400,000.
The elimination of the talented Mathew "Matfrankland" Frankland in seventh place, worth $51,349, left the waters ever-so-slightly less shark-infested. Frankland's fellow Brit, "InduceMe," crashed out in sixth for $72,036, the last prize not to weigh in at six figures.
Eventually, "xrenanx182" found themselves heads-up against "Everburn11" of Malta in what was essentially a $113,000 battle. A lack of a deal meant Everburn11" had to make do with the $278,994 second-place prize, while "xrenanx182" walked away with the title and a $391,389 top prize.

The $5,200 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event is the tournament that every PokerStars player dreams of winning during SCOOP. Not only does it come with a huge payday, but it also comes with a ton of adulation from the poker community. This year's champion is none other than Christian "eisenhower1" Jeppsson of Sweden.
Jeppsson outlasted a star-studded field of 443 entrants and got his hands on $397,025 of the $2,215,000 prize pool. The Swede defeated "NY17PATS14" heads-up to clinch the title and left the runner-up to collect a still large $295,097 consolation prize.

| 1 | Christian "eisenhower1" Jeppsson | Sweden | $397,025 |

| 8 | Benjamin "bencb789" Rolle | Bulgaria | $49,756 |
| 9 | The+EVClown | Brazil | $40,199 |
All eyes were on Benjamin "bencb789" Rolle at the start of the final table because he had the chance of adding a $5,200 SCOOP Main Event title to the $5,000 WSOP Online Main Event he won back in September 2025. Unfortunately for Rolle and his legion of fans, he could only muster an eighth-place finish worth $49,756.
Jeppsson is a veteran of the online poker world, having enjoyed big results for more than a decade. Much has changed in the world and in his life since his first online score, but one thing has remained: Jeppsson's almost unnatural ability to get the job done in the biggest online tournaments.
The 2026 Spring Championship Of Online Poker (SCOOP) wrapped up on March 25 and did so in spectacular style. Four PokerStars players added to their SCOOP trophy collections, including Sweden's Christian "eisenhower1" Jeppsson, who won the $5,200 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event for a cool $397,025.

The curtain comes down on SCOOP 2026 today, with all eyes naturally fixed on the NLHE Main Events, which resume at 5:30 p.m. UTC as champions are crowned across all three buy-in tiers.
But the Main Events aren’t the only action left on the schedule.
Alongside the flagship finales, two final waves of tournaments bring the series to a close, including the Final Mystery events and the Series Wrap-Up tournaments, which mark the last chances for players to bag one final title before the festival signs off.

It was another big night in the SCOOP PLO Main Events, with Jerry "Perrymejsen" Odeen continuing his remarkable series run while Benny "RunGodlike" Glaser came painfully close to another major title.
Odeen topped a 1,291 field and captured the $109 PLO Main Event. He took home $20,174 from the $129,100 prize pool, securing his 15th career SCOOP title and moving firmly into second place on the all-time SCOOP leaderboard.
It also marked his sixth title of the 2026 series, further cementing his status as one of the standout performers of this year’s festival.

The $1,050 PLO Main Event nearly delivered another major title for Glaser, but the British star had to settle for second after a strong run to heads-up. He was defeated by "terror777727", who collected $54,973, the lion's share of the $288,000 prize pool.
Also making the final table was Patrick "pmahoney22" Mahoney, who finished sixth. Mahoney had already picked up his first SCOOP title earlier in the series after winning SCOOP 133-H: $530 NLHE/PLO [6-Max, Progressive KO] for $15,934, which likely helped ease the sting of missing out on the Main Event crown.

The $5,200 PLO Main Event delivered one of the toughest final tables of the series, with several well-known names deep into the action.
Denmark’s "Prudently" emerged victorious out of 76 entries, banking $119,975 from $380,000 prize pool and claiming the first of two SCOOP titles on the night.
Brazil’s Rodrigo "SELOIUAN1991" Selouan finished second, while German high-stakes regular Ole "wizowizo" Schemion secured third place.
British pro Patrick "pads1161" Leonard came close to extending his all-time record haul, chasing what would have been his 17th SCOOP title and seventh of the series, but ultimately finished fourth. Fellow British high-stakes regular Talal "raidalot" Shakerchi also featured at the final table, finishing seventh.

All three SCOOP 2026 NLHE Main Events are down to their final tables, and one name stands out above the rest as play resumes on the final day of the series.
Benjamin “bencb789” Rolle, the founder of Raise Your Edge and the reigning 2025 WSOP Online Main Event champion, remains firmly in contention in the $5,200 SCOOP Main Event. Should Rolle go on to win, he would complete an unprecedented online double by capturing back-to-back world-class Main Event titles.
It would also strengthen his case to be considered the online GOAT. If his résumé wasn’t already strong enough, adding a SCOOP Main Event title to last year’s WSOP Online victory would make it increasingly difficult to argue against him.
Rolle returns to the final table sitting mid-pack, but with plenty of room to maneuver as Brazil’s Matheus “matheusttcm” Machado leads the way into the finale.

Frankland sits fourth in chips behind Finland’s “Samuelpol123”, who leads the way after building a dominant stack on Day 2.
With nearly $400,000 up top, the middle-tier Main Event remains wide open heading into the final session.

Tuesday, March 25 brought another wave of champions as the 2026 SCOOP edged closer to its finale, with titles handed out across a packed slate of events.
The attention now firmly shifting to the three No-Limit Hold’em Main Events, all of which have reached their final tables — more on this later.
Among the biggest winners of the day was Brandon “Tyrion2205” Sheils, who continued his red-hot series by capturing SCOOP 126-H: $1,050 NLHE [Series Saver] for $79,967, his second title of the series.
The night’s largest payout came in the $5,200 PLO Main Event, where “Prudently” topped a 76-entry field to bank $119,975, the biggest single score of the session. It capped a strong run in which the champ secured two SCOOP titles on the same day — also winning SCOOP 134-H: $530 NLHE [Heads-Up TKO Zoom] — good for a combined haul of roughly $145K.
Elsewhere in the PLO Main Event streets, Jerry “Perrymejsen” Odeen claimed victory in the $109 PLO Main Event for $20,174, earning his 15th career SCOOP title and moving into second place on the all-time SCOOP leaderboard.
There were also wins for several familiar names across the schedule. "Hendurr" picked up his second title of the series and third overall in SCOOP 132-M, while “blowknockout” mirrored that feat in SCOOP 132-H.
In the mixed-game action, Patrick “pmahoney22” Mahoney, who has more than $2 million in live earnings, added a SCOOP trophy to his résumé by winning SCOOP 133-H, while Alex “KingToddie” Todd captured SCOOP 131-L and later shared on social media that the win felt especially sweet after finishing runner-up in a SCOOP event years earlier before turning poker into a full-time pursuit.
Meanwhile, large-field grinders found success in the Series Saver events, where "regina83h" and "danieldl7" battled through massive fields of 8,601 and 3,722 entries, to claim their first SCOOP titles.
