Background
Duplicate Poker presents a different kind of online poker experience. It follows the normal Texas Holdem style poker in almost every way except for a few key differences:
1. There are always two or more tables of players. The same number of players are seated at each table.
2. For each hand, an identically shuffled deck is used at each of the table. This means that players sitting in the same position at different tables receive the exact same cards. Each table also sees the same common cards.
3. For every hand, all players on all competing tables receive the same number of chips, irrespective of how many a player finished with in the previous hand.
4. A score is generated for each player based on the net number of chips they have at the end of each hand.
5. A player's final score is calculated by comparing their initial score with the score of all other players sitting in the same seat position at the different tables. The player that has the highest comparative positive chip score at the end of a session wins.
The design and play of this style of poker reduces the influence on luck and places more emphasis on skill. In addition to playing against those at your table, players need to keep in mind that they are also competing against players at the other tables, playing the same cards as they are. In this way, almost every hand can be a winner, if it is played well. Duplicate Poker is growing in popularity and best of all; because this is a skill-based game, luck is no longer the only factor helping you win.
Limits and Rake
The rake at Duplicate Poker is generally set at 5%, which is standard across many online poker rooms. The limits are geared towards budget play, with tournament and sit-n-go buyins ranging from $3 to $15.
Player Traffic
In a very short time, Duplicate Poker has developed a strong following and it has been growing ever since. Most of the traffic is centered on the tournaments and sit-n-gos with most people taking up Duplicate Poker's generous daily freerolls. As more players look for a game that rewards their strategic and skillful play, player traffic to Duplicate Poker is sure to increase.
Playability
As a new website offering a different spin on regular poker, the software is very easy to use. Duplicate Poker has a comfortable interface and design. Once players enter the lobby, tabbed browsing allows quick access to functions such as player account, cashier and options. Players can easily switch between tournament and cash game view and toggle the play or real money options to quickly sort the type of game they are after. The lobby can sometimes lag and is slow to refresh but once players enter a game, the speed of the software readily increases. The gameplay runs at a pace that generally keeps the player's interest. Players must be prepared however, to wait for the action to take place on the other tables before progressing to the next hand. Thankfully, this doesn't take long and doesn't interfere with the run of play too much.
Software and Extra Features
Duplicate Poker is still in its infancy. As such there still many functions that will be added over time to increase the value and options available to players. That said, the software does have some great features, specifically:
Hand History – Obtain hand histories for all types of games played.
Four Color Deck – This option makes the large and vibrant cards even easier to distinguish.
Sound – Toggle sound effects on and off.
Account Management – Players are able to log in to their account through the Duplicate Poker website, without the need for opening the playing software.
Customer Service
Duplicate Poker has customer service available 24/7 with two phone numbers for players to contact support, as well as an email service.
