Lengthy Hand Between Badziakouski and Nitsche Clearly Tilts Kabrhel

Level 20 : 300,000/600,000, 600,000 ante
Mikita Badziakouski
Mikita Badziakouski

Blind on blind between Dominik Nitsche {k-Clubs}{9-Hearts} in the small blind and Mikita Badziakouski {10-Spades}{3-Clubs} in the big blind, Nitsche checked an {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{q-Clubs} flop and Badziakouski bet 800,000.

Nitsche check-raised to 1,800,000 and Badziakouski called.

The turn was the {7-Spades} and both players checked.

Badziakouski now had less than a pot-sized bet behind, and the river was the {7-Hearts}, double-pairing the board. Nitsche checked and Badziakouski tanked for over two minutes before betting 1,600,000. Nitsche eventually folded.

This hand clearly rankled with Martin Kabrhel. One player noted that each player took three minutes to act on the river, and Kabrhel unleashed a semi-tirade at Nitsche.

"If I was in the hand in that spot on the turn," said Kabrhel to Nitsche, "Then you call clock on me 100%. I'm just saying, it's kind of ridiculous [...] You can enjoy all the time you want but that was ridiculous."

There was a pause before he continued.

"Don't call time on me when I have an all-in decision. I'm just saying that you'd call clock on me in the same situation. It's crazy. I don't have a problem with that hand in paricular, I just have problem with other hands when they call the time on me."

"I didn't think we took that long," Nitsche said to Badziakouski.

"It was long but like…just put a shot clock in the tournament," said Badziakouski in reply.

Peters With the River Overbet

Level 20 : 300,000/600,000, 600,000 ante

David Peters opened to 1,350,000 with {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} from the cutoff and Julian Thomas {q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} defended his big blind.

The flop came {j-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and Thomas check-called 1,200,000. The turn was the {k-Hearts} and Thomas checked again, and this time Peters bet 4,500,000. Again Thomas called.

The river was the {4-Diamonds} and Thomas checked for the third time, and with 15 million in the middle, Peters bet 19,300,000 leaving himself less than a million behind.

Thomas folded, allowing Peters to close the gap to the German in second place.

Adrian Mateos
Adrian Mateos

Julian Thomas opened to 1,200,000 from the hijack and it folded to Adrian Mateos in the small blind who three-bet all in for 4,775,000.

The big blind folded and Thomas made the call.

Adrian Mateos: {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Julian Thomas: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}

Mateos flopped a flush draw on {j-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}, but there was to be no further help on the {q-Clubs}{3-Spades} runout and the Spaniard became the second elimination of the day, taking home €331,943.

Big Pot After Thomas Hits His Straight

Level 19 : 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante
Julian Thomas
Julian Thomas

Mikita Badziakouski opened to 1,100,000 with {a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} from early position and Julian Thomas defended his big blind with {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}.

The flop came {2-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and Thomas checked. Badziakouski continued for 1,000,000 and Thomas peeled his gutshot. He was instantly rewarded with the {j-Spades} making his straight. He checked to his opponent who bet 3,700,000. Thomas called.

The river was the {k-Diamonds}. Thomas checked and Badziakouski tanked for ninety seconds before betting 9,000,000. Thomas called and took down the pot with his straight, overtaking Badziakouski in the chip counts in the process.
