Gala Folds to Scharf's Aggression

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Before the break, Ting Ho won a big flip with pocket queens against the ace-king of Aleksandar Tomovic to join the big stacks, edging past Aneris Adomkevicius on the same table.

Eddy Scharf is on the best way to a big stack also after just successfully taking on Domenico Gala. The Italian raised to 3,500 from under the gun and Scharf three-bet to 8,000. Gala called and checked the {6-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop, which prompted Scharf to continue for 45,000 with 10,000 behind. Gala counted his remaining stack of 51,100 carefully and folded.

Last Break of the Night

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

The last 20-minute break of the night has kicked in after the end of level 11 and the screens show 58 out of 165 players remaining.

On Martin Kabrhel's table a Bulgarian got his short stack in with the {Q-Spades}{10-Clubs} and fellow countryman Stoyan Obreshkov called with the {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}. The board came {J-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and the short stack was eliminated, he headed to the rail with the words "see you tomorrow." Another Bulgarian has a big stack on that very table and it is no other than Fahredin Mustafov.

Mertz Likes to Gamble

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Jesper Mertz
Jesper Mertz

The player under-the-gun shoved all-in for 13,300 and Jesper Mertz called directly to his left. The rest of the table folded and the cards were turned over. The player under-the-gun tabled {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and Mertz showed {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}.

"Everyone on this table wants to gamble," Martin Kabrhel said. "First eights, now sevens. That's OK I like to gamble."

The flop came {k-Hearts}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs} and Kabrhel couldn't help himself from talking. "Seat open!" he shouted before the hand was even finished. The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and the river brought the {4-Hearts}. Indeed there was a seat open as Mertz eliminated another opponent.

"Every hand there's a seat open on this table. Maybe I'm next," Kabrhel continued to ramble.

Zipf Loses Flip to Bust

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Robert Zipf in the cutoff and Domenico Gala in the small blind got their stacks in preflop and it was Zipf that was the player at risk in typical coin flip fashion.

Robert Zipf: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Domenico Gala: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}

The board of {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts} improved the Italian and Zipf left the tournament area.

The Party Killer

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Roberto Romanello
Roberto Romanello

Robert Schulz had previously knocked out Kristen Bicknell and just sent Roberto Romanello to the rail as well. "Aces versus nines for 100k pot," the Welshman said on the way out and Schulz confirmed the details of the elimination.

According to Schulz he three-bet an open raise from 2,600 to 8,000 and Romanello four-bet to 16,800. The initial raiser folded and Schulz called before Romanello shoved a {J-}{9-}{4-} rainbow flop with his pair of aces. Schulz called with nines for middle set and that was it for Romanello.

Hellmuth Missing

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth is no longer in contention on Day 1b and his former table opponents confirmed the elimination of the 14-time WSOP bracelet winner. Hellmuth got it in with pocket fives versus pocket sixes and jack-ten, and Chi Cuong Huynh made two pair with jack-ten. Cuong Huynh raised to 2,400 soon after and picked up two callers in Maxim Lykov and Jesper Mertz in the blinds. On a {10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop, Cuong Huynh bet 6,000 and showed {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds} after both opponents folded.

The next hand, Casey Kastle raised to 2,400 and a short stack shoved for just 3,600. Mertz called in the blinds, as did Kastle. The two remaining active players checked the {A-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop and {4-Clubs} turn. Mertz check-folded the {7-Spades} river to a bet of 4,000 by Kastle and the player at risk turned over his {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs} with "I guess you have better than king-jack high."

Kastle showed {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} and the next player bowed out from their table.

Rene Crha Steals One on the River

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Rene Crha opened to 2,600 from early position and was called by the button and Fahredin Mustafov in the big blind. The flop came {q-Spades}{8-Clubs}{6-Spades} and the action was checked around to the {2-Hearts} on the turn.

Mustafov led out for 4,600 and Crha called, while the button folded. The river brought the {10-Clubs} and Mustafov checked this time. Crha put together a bet of 6,500 and Mustafov instantly folded.

Petleshkov More Than Triples Up

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Viliyan Petleshkov
Viliyan Petleshkov

Dario Marinelli raised to 2,200 and Viktor Kovachev called. Viliyan Petleshkov shoved from the hijack and Tomas Holman also moved all in to force out Marinelli. Kovachev asked for a count on Holman's shove, as he was the bigger stack of the two, and the Czech was all in for 32,500 to see Kovachev call.

Viliyan Petleshkov: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}
Tomas Holman: {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}
Viktor Kovachev: {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}

The board came {K-Spades}{9-Hearts}{3-Spades}{A-Spades}{A-Hearts} and Petleshkov more than tripled up his stack of 26,800. At the same time, Grzegorz Wyraz ran with queens into kings and found no help either to bow out.
