Sarah reveals some of the points that make this seaside social hub the perfect place for one of the wold's most prestigious poker tournaments.
We're not sure of the details, but we can confirm that Sam Chartier recently busted over at Table 8. On the flip side, we're starting to see a few players take advantage of the late registration, which is open through the break at the end of this level. They include Jeff Lisandro and Jonathan Aguiar.

We didn't catch the action, but we do know that an unknown player in Seat 9 was all in preflop with and in bad shape against the of Greg Merson, who made the final table of the $10,000 Main Event in Vegas and is a member of the October Nine. The board ran out and Merson was pushed the pot.
Meanwhile, both Tristan Wade and Marvin Rettenmaier have been eliminated over at Table 6.

The tournament, which has been running for 195 minutes now, is down to 157 players. Last we knew, the field drew 267 players (that's likely changed given registration is still open), but that means we've lost at least 110 players. If you do the math, you'll discover that we've lost 0.80512820512821 players per minute so far in Event #2: €1,100 No-Limit Hold'em; in other words, it's going fat.
We didn't catch all the action, but we do know that the man who eliminated Vanessa Selbst, Elli Dror, just tripled. He got his short stack all in preflop with and was in bad shape against the and of two opponents who had created a side pot.
The flop paired Dror's seven, but he still needed some help to stay alive. The turn took away some of his outs, but much to his delight, the spiked on the river to extended his life.

Marvin Rettenmaier opened for 300 from middle position and was called by the player in the hijack. The flop saw Rettenmaier lead out for 250, the hijack call, and the dealer burn and turn the . Rettenmaier opted to slow down with a check, and then folded when the hijack moved all in for around 2,500.

You might not know the name Ashly Butler, but you very well may by the time the WSOP Europe comes to an end. The young pro from New Orleans, Louisiana has traveled to Cannes to take his shot at the big time.
Butler has silently been having a heck of a year in 2012, racking up $136,500 in winnings thus far. That includes a third-place finish in Event #8 $1,500 Omaha Hi/Lo at the WSOP for $102,373, and a heck of a showing at the WSOP Circuit IP Biloxi where he nearly won the Casino Championship after winning a ring in a $365 No-Limit Hold'em event and finishing second in another.
In a recent hand, Butler managed to get his stack of 4,500 all in preflop alongside a short-stacked player in Seat 9. Both of them were at risk and covered by the player in Seat 2.
