After a player had opened for 450, an unknown player on the button three-bet to 1,450. Ashly Butler proceeded to four-bet to 3,150 from the big blind, the original raiser folded, and the button came back with a five-bet to 6,400. Butler snap folded only to see the button turn over .
Despite losing that pot, Butler is still up from the last time we checked in with him and is sitting pretty with 17,500.
Registration has come to a close here on Day 1a of Event #2: €1,100 No-Limit Hold'em with 295 entries, down from last year's 381. Nonetheless, this is a re-entry event, so officials expect many of today's elimination to return tomorrow for another try.
The plan for the evening is to play down to 45 players, which we're about 56 away from at the moment. Once there, play will be halted and then tomorrow's field will play the exact amount of time on Day 1b. There's no telling how long it'll take, but right now we're just five levels in and only a third of the field remains.
JohnnyDuthie John DuthieOops 3 bet outta small blind with 6,8. Called by raiser. Flop Q,8,8. I bet he shoves with A,Q... Turn A, river A. #runninggoodSeptember 22 2012
Oliver Speidel opened for 400 from middle position and received calls from Jeff Lisandro and David Benyamine in the hijack and big blind respectively. The latter checked the flop and opened the door for Speidel to continuation-bet 650. Lisandro thought for a moment before sliding out his entire stack of around 2,400, Benyamine folded, and Speidel made a quick call to put his fellow Australian at risk.
Showdown
Speidel:
Lisandro:
Lisandro had flopped top pair with top kicker, but it was still way behind the pocket kings of Speidel. The turn was a blank, as was the river, and Lisandro made a quick exit from the tournament floor.
