Elliott Doubles Through Demidov

"This is a chip. These are what you have taken from Ivan."
"This is a chip. These are what you have taken from Ivan."
Robin Keston raised to 18,000 in early position and got four callers; they saw a {9-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {K-Hearts} flop.

It checked around to Ivan Demidov on the button, who bet 51,000 -- only for Chris Elliott in the small blind to make it 102,000. Soon Demidov announced all in to cover Elliott, who immediately called.

Elliott: {6-Spades} {6-Clubs}
Demidov: {5-Hearts} {7-Hearts}

Turn: {3-Clubs}

"Ooh," said the crowd, noticing that Demidov now had straight outs as well.

River: {6-Diamonds}

"Ahh," said the crowd, noticing that Elliott had now made quads.

Elliott has more than doubled up to 620,000, while Demidov is our new short stack on just 110,000.

Juanda Adamant

Juanda: Happy Chip Leader
Juanda: Happy Chip Leader
It looks like today John Juanda is unshakeable. The first to crack a million in chips, he just cracked Brandon Adams' stack in two at the end of a strange hand which played out blind on blind (Adams in the SB). Adams limped preflop, then called Juanda's raise to 18,000. This bought him a flop of {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} . Again, check to Juanda who bet 50,000. Again, call.

The turn: {8-Diamonds} Again, check to Juanda, who bet 80,000. Call.
River: {J-Clubs} Check a third and final time to Juanda, who now threw in enough white 25,000 chips to set his opponent all in. The crowd waited with bated breath as Adams declined to follow the pattern and commit his final 180,000.

Negreanu Can't Call Shakerchi

Negreanu: We Are Not Amused
Negreanu: We Are Not Amused
A very large pot just developed over on the feature table, between Daniel Negreanu and Talal Shakerchi, who seems to be in quite a few pots now and who's increased his stack past the half million point.

Shakerchi was on the button, and I caught the action from the turn, when the pot started swelling beyond the norm. The board stood {6-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {2-Spades} and Negreanu had bet out 90,000. Shakerchi took quite a while, and eventually flat called.

River: {4-Diamonds} Now Negreanu bet out 120,000, fixing his opponent with a top class sidelong stare while he (Shakerchi) dwelled again, before coming to a decision and moving all in for what looked like about that amount again.

This clearly displeased Negreanu. He really put himself through the wringer, recapping the action of the hand to himself, while gesticulating with one pointing finger. Having talked it through (I wish I could hear what he was saying) and received not even a whisper from the all-in Shakerchi, he eventually said something I think I caught correctly, "I have to figure you have four sixes," and threw his hand away. Someone asked what he himself had, but received, "It doesn't matter," as the fair enough response.

Negreanu down to 260,000.

Magic Juanda

Talal Shakerchi just took on the big stacked John Juanda, seeing a flop after Juanda raised on the button.

That flop was: {6-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} Out bet Shakerchi, what looked like 50,000. A long think later and Juanda called.

The turn brought the {2-Spades} . Check to Juanda who bet 120,000 after due deliberation. Shakerchi had clearly given up, as his cards sailed into the muck with no further fuss.

Matusow and Townsend Nearly, But Not Quite, Lock Horns

Mike Matusow is back down to 175,000 after conceding a curious hand to Brian Townsend.

Townsend checked the {2-Clubs} {7-Spades} {4-Hearts} flop and Matusow bet 21,000. Townsend asked Matusow how much he had left -- around 175,000 -- and then dwelled up for some time, stroking his remaining towers of chips in a worryingly phallic manner, after which he raised to 121,000.

Now it was Matusow's turn to try to assess how much Townsend has behind. They seem to be about even. Matusow dwells up, perhaps the longest time he has spent not talking since the beginning of the tournament. Then he folds.

Show Me Yours and I'll Show You Mine

Robin Keston made it 17,000, called by Brian Townsend and big blind Scott Fischman. Keston bet 20,000 on the {3-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {J-Spades} flop and Townsend folded but Fischman check-called.

When they both checked the {8-Diamonds} turn and {7-Spades} river, it was time for a showdown, but Fischman didn't want to show -- he thought that because it was Keston who had bet last, it should be him who had to show. However, as he was in the small blind position and there had been no aggressive action on the river it was in fact Fischman's duty to turn his cards over, and he had nothing to worry about as his {K-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} was very much ahead of Keston's {A-Spades} {Q-Hearts}.

Robin Keston Finds Playable Hand

Keston: Rocketman
Keston: Rocketman
With few large pots so far this level, it was understandably interesting to the players on one table when those on another got into an on-their-backs situation just now. Robin Keston, hitherto very quiet today, raised preflop and big blind Johnny Lodden called him.

The flop came {2-Hearts} {7-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} which set off a (very brief, as Keston was the short stack) raising war which saw Keston all-in with his {A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} and Lodden with the ever-dangerous {Q-Hearts} {9-Hearts} .

There could be imagined no brickier bricks than the {4-Clubs} {2-Clubs} which fell on the turn and river, so Keston bumps his stack up to around 280,000.

Elliott Terminates Demidov's Small Blind Hopes

I need your Betfair hoodie and your motorcycle
I need your Betfair hoodie and your motorcycle
At last, a hand makes it as far as the turn, and it is Chris Elliott who takes it down. Blind on blind, Ivan Demidov and Elliott saw the {K-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {10-Spades} {J-Clubs} board and Demidov, the small blind, bet 17,000. With barely a pause, Elliott raised to 35,000.

Demidov squinted at the board for some time, while Elliott turned silently behind his Terminator sunglasses. Eventually Demidov's expression turned to one of confusion and then on to one of resignation, and he folded.

Corporate Goodies

Standing by the non-feature, or less-feature as it has now become, table, I am watching Chris Elliott take the blinds uncontested with a raise from the hijack, when I notice that Scott Fischman is in possession of what appears to be a Full Tilt-branded iPhone. Most impressive, merch-wise.
