Martin Vallo Eliminated At Last

Really not happy
Really not happy
Hold'em:

And things just get worse and worse for Martin Vallo.

In the small blind position, he called a bet on the {4-Spades} {2-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} flop and was five-way to the turn with Hellmuth, Negreanu, Williams and Donev.

Williams bet the {Q-Spades} turn and Vallo called, as did Hellmuth and Negreanu. Come the {5-Clubs} river, it was Negreanu who bet, and Vallo gave up, as did Williams. Hellmuth turned over {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} for trips, but Negreanu turned over {A-Spades} {5-Spades} for a flush.

Vallo was now down to just 5,000. Sighing, he got up from the table and wandered briefly around the room, before returning to get it over with.

He couldn't get the chips in fast enough, and there was to be no miracle comeback for Vallo as his {A-Hearts} {7-Clubs} was no good against David Williams' {5-Spades} {8-Clubs} on the {6-Clubs} {8-Spades} {6-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {7-Spades} board. After grinding for so long, he wasted no time in leaving the tournament area to clear his head.

Not Happy

At Table Hellmuth, two players are looking extremely depressed, both of them cradling their respective heads in their hands and wearing their miserable expressions like a uniform of despair.

After Marc Goodwin's miniature comeback, the pressure of having Phil Hellmuth on his immediate left, with Negreanu and David Williams beyond him, seems to be getting to him somewhat, and his stack has dropped back down to around 24,000. Martin Vallo is our other unfortunate Table Hellmuth denizen who is having a rough time of it -- although he has done well to grind this far with his micro-stack, he's failed to improve it noticeably and it's still sitting tensely on barely 12,000.

Moving up the Chip Lederer

Stud 8:

Howard Lederer can't seem to lose a pot at the moment. He just took down a pot off Joe Beevers and Isaac Haxton. There was action on all streets and after sixth street the players were showing:

Lederer: {A-Clubs} {8-Spades} {3-Hearts} {5-Diamonds}
Beevers: {4-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {7-Spades} {J-Diamonds}
Haxton: {J-Spades} {4-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} {2-Hearts}

Lederer led out after receiving his final down card, forcing Beevers to fold. Haxton made a reluctant call, but folded upon seeing Lederer's down cards of {A-Spades} {4-Clubs} {3-Diamonds}.

This puts him in the lead at 110,000 now. Beevers down to 24,300 and Haxton down to 76,000.

Farnood Flushes Pescatori

Sherkhan Farnood
Sherkhan Farnood
Stud 8:

Max Pescatori just lost a whopper of a pot to Sherkhan Farnood and dropped to 43,000 in chips in the process.

Pescatori played the hand ultra-fast, raising Farnood's bet on the door card, then leading out with a bet on every street through sixth, as the hands filled out:

Pescatori: {K-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {8-Spades}
Farnood: {K-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {A-Clubs}

On seventh street, Max put on the brakes, passing the action to Farnood, who bet the obligatory 3,000. Max made the call and was disgusted to see Farnood turn over {J-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {9-Hearts} for a flush.

Afterwards, Farnood piled up over 60,000 in chips -- his highest total of the day.

Goodwin and Hellmuth Chop It Up

Stud 8:

Marc Goodwin raised on third street, Phil Hellmuth his only caller. They both checked fourth street, before Hellmuth bet fifth. Goodwin raised, and Hellmuth commented, "Wow," before calling. Hellmuth bet sixth, Goodwin called, and they both checked seventh street before quietly taking their chips back in a chop.

Goodwin: {7-Spades} {8-Spades} {10-Clubs} {2-Clubs} with {A-Spades} {7-Hearts} {2-Diamonds}
Hellmuth: {5-Spades} {A-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {8-Clubs} with {5-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}

Robert Williamson The Busted

Ah well, there's always the omaha
Ah well, there's always the omaha
Stud 8:

Robert Williamson III is no more for this tournament after falling foul of Daniel Negreanu.

All in on fifth street, "I think I've got you for now," said Williamson, before discovering that he was behind and Negreanu had one of his outs. He groaned as sixth street was dealt, and then croaked, "Let me know if I'm drawing dead," as Negreanu peered at his seventh street down card. Out he goes.

Negreanu: {6-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} with {6-Clubs} {3-Spades} and {A-Hearts} on seventh
Williamson: {4-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {2-Spades} {7-Diamonds} with {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs} and {8-Hearts} on seventh

Double Elimination

On the up, in HORSE any how.
On the up, in HORSE any how.
Stud:

Gus Hansen and Barny Boatman have just been eliminated in one hand by Howard Lederer.

Raul Paez did the damage to the two in the hand before with his [{10-Diamonds} {6-Spades}] {10-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} [{8-Diamonds}] winning out to put him up to 79,000.

Boatman and Hansen were left very short and both committed the rest of their chips the next hand, but neither could beat the two pair Lederer held with [{K-Hearts} {2-Spades}] {K-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} [{Q-Hearts}].

Lederer is up to 85,000 as a result. He did jest that he has to come in third to get out of the hole he got himself into with Hansen during the last break. The game played - Chinese poker of course.

Vallo Still In

Stud:

Martin Vallo looked a bit concerned when he found himself in a four-way pot with Daniel Negreanu, Robert Williamson III and John Juanda, the {K-Clubs} showing in his hand. However, the poker gods smiled upon his predicament and dealt him the {K-Hearts} up on fourth street. Laughing, he bet and the others duly folded.

He's still woefully short, though, on around 19,000.

Even shorter is Robert Williamson III -- he is currently our official short stack on just 6,500.

Goodwin Winning Good

Stud:

Marc Goodwin is making a bit of a comeback, raising on third street to be met by a call from David Williams, then calling Williams' bets all the way down to sixth street before they both checked on seventh. Goodwin flipped his down cards over to show that he'd made two pair, and Williams just showed the {A-Clubs} for a pair before mucking the rest. Goodwin now up to around 45,000.

Williams: {8-Hearts} {A-Spades} {J-Hearts} {6-Spades} with {A-Clubs}
Goodwin: {10-Spades} {J-Clubs} {2-Spades} {2-Diamonds} with {J-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} {4-Clubs}
