Table Talk: Happy in Europe

Patrik Antonius
Patrik Antonius
During the break, Kirk Morrison and Patrik Antonius chatted about their present location. Antonius recently moved back to Europe after a short stint in Las Vegas.

Antonius: "It's so nice to be back in Europe."

Morrison: "I hear you. I'm staying. I'm not going to leave. I love it here."

The Latest From the Top-Floor Card Room

Fierce UK player Ben Grundy has just come upstairs, he was telling Richard Ashby that he is purposely sitting out of the Razz level on his table because he "sucks at razz big time" (his words).

Howard Lederer was near elimination about 40 minutes ago but has impressively got his stack back up from 3000 to 10,000.

EPT champ Andreas Hoivold is not faring so well; he is on 3000 and doesn't seem to be able to hit a flop to save his life at the moment.

Dan Shak is STILL on the phone, buy low, sell high. Presumably whatever shares he is dealing in might be a little more lucrative than the £2500 he bought in with.

Ted Forrest is doing well at his table, he lost a few big pots earlier but still has around 14,000.

Tired Cowboy

Texas Dolly = The Tired Cowboy

Doyle Brunson has been spotted napping at random times during the first two levels. Several of the Las Vegas pros flew in at the last minute and are faced with jet lag and adjusting to the new time zone. Brunson is among those unfortunate souls. The £2,500 HORSE event is going to be a marathon spread out over three days. Brunson is taking advantage of the slow action during the early levels to catch up on sleep before he needs to expend his energy for an old-fashioned gun fight.

American Football vs. Soccer

Table 11 has now turned their attention to which is the rougher sport out of soccer and NFL. Lederer is arguing that NFL is roughest because they do not have a 'Penalty Kick' system. Jeff Lisandro is making a case for women's field hockey to be rougher than the other two put together.

Its a shame nobody from an Olympic Committee is here to take down some of this valuable insight.

Elsewhere Dan Shak has hardly sat at his table, as he has been on his mobile phone on and off for some time now. A little eavesdropping revealed he is partaking in some sort of stock trading, advising his partner to buy low sell high, etc., etc.

Andy Black Eliminated

Andy Black
Andy Black
Andy Black was among the short stacks for most of the day. He could not improve on his situation and headed to the rail after being eliminated. It was bad enough that Black's tournament life was over, but he was also busted in the middle of a massage. Massage over. Black out.

Passing the Time

Limit tournaments can be a bit slow-going in the early levels. So how are your favorite pros passing the time between hands?

Chris Ferguson and Nicolaus Jedlicka are sitting side by side, both reading copies of Bluff Magazine.

Phil Hellmuth is listening to "Paradise City" by Guns 'N Roses on his iPod.

Doyle Brunson is grabbing quick naps between hands with his trademark cowboy hat drooped over his face.

Mark Vos is thumbing through a copy of Online Poker Pro magazine.

Kenny Tran is watching a movie on his iPod.

Bruno Fitoussi, Jesse Jones, and Andy Black are all enjoying massages.

The Mood in the Room...

Being a limit event, the action is slow and methodical, so the players are relaxed and seem to be enjoying themselves. There is plenty of talk about sports and betting, and just a hint of politics....
