Adrian Attenborough Eliminated in 8th Place (AU$51,052/~$34,923)

Level 27 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Adrian Attenborough moved all in for 580,000 from middle position before the action checked around to Edwin Chiu in the big blind.

"I could use the double," said Attenborough, as Chiu was deliberating his decision. "Or help you out," he joked.

"If you're feeling lucky, call," continued Attenborough. "Otherwise don't because I'm lucky," he finished with. Chiu eventually called.

Chiu: {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Attenborough: {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}

Attenborough would improve to a pair on the turn before getting rivered, after the board ran out {2-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}, giving Chiu the winning hand with a flush.

Zwaine Puts the Hurt on Attenborough

A huge hand went down between John Zwaine and Adrian Attenborough that has seen the latter's chances of winning some jewellery diminish considerably.

It was Huss Hassan the man initially driving the action with a raise to 175,000 from middle position, with Adrian Attenborough making the call from the cutoff before John Zwaine three-bet to 425,000 from the button. Both Hassan and Attenborough made the call to take play three-way to a flop of {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{k-Spades}.

Hassan and Attenborough both checked it over to Zwaine, who cut out a bet of 575,000 with Attenborough the only caller.

The {7-Spades} turn brought a 600,000 bet from Attenborough and Zwaine quickly announced 'all-in' with Attenborough calling just as quickly.

Adrian Attenborough: {a-Spades}{3-Spades}
John Zwaine: {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}

That was probably the worst turn card for Attenborough who found himself drawing dead with the nut flush against Zwaine's turned full house. The river was a meaningless {8-Diamonds} and Zwaine scooped the monster pot and went to celebrate with his watching rail.

Attenborough stoically cut out the chips to pay off Zwaine and dropped to 580,000 after the hand, while Zwaine is now up there with the chip leaders on 6.1 million.

Trevor Saunders Eliminated in 9th Place (AU$40,689/~$27,834)

Level 27 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Duy Vu raised to 175,000 from middle position. Trevor Saunders moved all in for 740,000 from the small blind. Vu asked for a count before making the quick call.

Vu: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Saunders: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}

Saunders flopped a straight draw, but was unable to improve against Vu's pocket pair on the {6-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{k-Spades} board, ultimately falling to the rail first in 9th place.

Chiu Wins First Flop Played

Level 27 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Edwin Chua

It took four hands before the first flop was dealt, with some pre-flop stack flexing taking place for the first three.

The first hand saw John Zwaine open the action from under-the-gun plus one to 225,000 and Huss Hassan flat call from the button before Steven Zhou pulled off a big squeeze to 1 million. While Zwaine seemed a little sceptical, shooting a surreptitious sidelong stare Zhou's way, he eventually gave it up, as did Hassan leaving Zhou free to scoop 650,000 unopposed.

The second hand was taken down Edwin Chiu with a pre-flop raise to 175,000 from the hijack, with Huss Hassan doing the same for the third hand.

On the fourth Lior Segre raised it up to 180,000 from under-the-gun and Edwin Chiu three-bet to 475,000 from middle position. The rest of the table folded and Segre tossed in the extras to take play heads-up to a flop of {a-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}, which Segre check-folded to a Chiu continuation bet of 350,000.

Welcome to the WSOPC Sydney Main Event Final Table

The Final Nine Players are Set
The Final Nine Players are Set

The final nine players remaining in the WSOP International Circuit $2,200 Main Event have returned to action at The Star in Sydney to play to a winner.

Edwin Chiu has the chip lead with 6,335,000 chips, just over one big blind more than Steven Zhou. Chiu will be a force to be reckoned with after eliminating Moustafa Haidar in the final hand on Day 3, after rivering a flush against a set, to give himself a great shot at taking home the WSOP Circuit ring and $410,264 top prize.

Chiu and Zhou won't have everything their own way, however, with all nine remaining players desperate to take down the title and improve on the $40,689 they'll be guaranteed for being the next man to exit.

Huss Hassan, who sits third in chips, is no stranger to this situation. Hassan has nine titles to his name, one of which came in the 2018 WSOPC Sydney $1,320 6-Max event, where he captured his first circuit ring.

Adrian Attenborough is the most notable player at the table, with a poker resume that boasts career earnings exceeding $1.4 million, putting him 26th on the Australian All-Time Money list. A victory today would see him rocket up to 23rd place, passing Joe Cabret, Manny Stavropoulos and Stewart Scott in the process, and leaving him a small cash away from passing Jarred Graham.

Here's how the players will line up when they return to the felt today.
