Ghaneian Takes a Hit

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

It started rather innocent with a raise to 65,000 by Arash Ghaneian and ended with the shove of Kevin Calenzo out of the small blind for more than 1.3 million. Ghaneian looked him up and tapped the table once the cards were turned over. "No matter how it ends, nice hand," Ghaneian added.

Calenzo: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}
Ghaneian: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}

After the {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop, Calenzo put a deadlock on the hand, and the {4-Hearts} turn made his double-up official. "Pay the man his money," Ghaneian said before the {3-Diamonds} river completed the board. Calenzo's all-in was for 1,372,000, and that cut Ghaneian's stack in more than half.
