Ray Qartomy raised to 220,000 and Michael Tureniec called from the small blind. Jose Reyes moved all in for his last 970,000 in the big blind and Qartomy reluctantly folded while Tureniec called.
Reyes:
Tureniec:
"I folded because I know how you play," Qartomy said, and the board came to see Reyes dodge both overcards and the flush draw in order to double.
Under the gun, Toby Price pushed his short stack toward the middle.
Alexandru Papazian was closing the action from the big blind and he found a hand worth calling the approximate 600,000-chip shove.
Price:
Papazian:
Price was alive, but the flop significantly decreased his chances. Price needed runner-runner to survive but that possibility was already denied on the turn. The river completed the board while Price was already asking the tournament staff about his final position.
Vlad Darie raised to 200,000 from the cutoff and Adrian Moreno, as well as [Removed:172] in the small blind, both called. The flop fell and Kramer checked to Darie who continued for 350,000. Moreno raised to 850,000 and Kramer folded.
Darie moved all in and Moreno quickly called for the remainder of his stack.
Moreno:
Darie:
The turn gave Moreno trips, but Darie got there thanks to the on the river to eliminate Moreno in 19th place for $26,070.
Adrian Moreno raised to 215,000 from the small blind and [Removed:172] called in the big blind. The flop came and Moreno continued for 400,000, which Kramer called. On the turn, Moreno checked and Kramer bet 500,000 with around 1,300,000 behind.
That was good enough to force a fold from Moreno, who dropped to 23 big blinds.
Within two hands, the stack of Ian O'Hara has melted to zero and the chips went to Randy Pfeifer and Vlad Darie.
Hand #1:
Picking up the action on the turn, Pfeifer checked out of the big blind and O'Hara bet 300 from the cutoff. Pfeifer check-raised to 700,000 and O'Hara called. On the river, Pfeifer bet 1,125,000 and O'Hara reluctantly called, then mucked when he was shown for trips jacks by Pfeifer.
Hand #2:
Down to 23 big blinds, O'Hara faced a raise by table neighbor Vlad Darie and three-bet all in with pocket nines. Darie called with and flopped a jack, making the nine on the river a cruel formality.
O'Hara, who started the day in the lead, had to settle for a disappointing 20th place and payday of $26,070.
Ioanis Angelou Konstas raised to 200,000 from the button and big blind Toby Price pulled out a huge three-bet of what looked to be 1,600,000.
Konstas was puzzled. "Will you show me if I fold?" he begged.
"Not sure," Price replied.
Konstas figured out a way to see Konstas cards, pushing all in for 2,005,000. Price had to make an easy call, considering the amount he'd already put in. He called immediately.
Konstas:
Price:
Konstas saw one of the hands he'd wished for and Price's ace-ten couldn't catch up on the board.
Konstas let out, "Yes!" in joy while Price dropped to last six big blinds.
