Shundan Xiao opened to 600,000 from the hijack with the A♠K♦ and Joe Serock defended his big blind with the 10♥8♠. Serock led out for 425,000 on the 7♥6♣4♥ flop and was called. The board paired with the 7♠ turn and Serock sized up to 1,400,000 and was called once more.
The K♥ completed the board, and with 5,300,000 in the pot, action checked through to showdown. Xiao tabled a pair of kings, which was good enough to take the pot.

Luis Vazquez opened to 625,000 from the cutoff and then called after Julio Trimmer three-bet jammed for 3,875,000 out of the big blind.
Julio Trimmer: A♦5♣
Luis Vazquez: K♣Q♣
Trimmer was marginally ahead and saw a clean flop of 8♣2♥7♠ spread on the felt. The Q♦ turn, however, was a dagger that left the at risk player needing some help from Barry Greenstein on the river to survive. It did not come as the 9♣ completed the board instead to condemn Trimmer to a 44th place finish.

The flop of 8♥9♠J♦ checked through and the same action took place on the K♣ turn and Q♣ river. Coelho showed A♠9♦ for a pair of nines, which was good to beat the 8♣2♥ of Jivkov and the 5♠5♦ of Morris as Jivkov hit the rail in 43rd place.

Cates also talked about his iconic Poker Players Championship outfits and a six-figure downswing he experienced at Bellagio during the summer.
This interview was filmed at the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) inside Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.
