James Carroll Eliminated in 24th Place ($42,851)

Level 23 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
James Carroll
James Carroll

The action started with a cutoff raise to 150,000 by David Benyamine and Mandy Calara called on the button. James Carroll then potted to 625,000 in the big blind and Benyamine reraised the pot to 2,125,000. Calara eventually called all-in for 1,110,000 and Carroll gave it some thought before he called all-in for another 950,000 behind to be the second-biggest stack in the showdown.

Mandy Calara: QJ98 All in
James Carroll: AKQQ All in
David Benyamine: AA103

The biggest stack remained ahead on the 1063 flop while Calara had a gutshot. Nothing changed with the 5 turn but the 7 river completed an unlikely straight for Calara, as he tripled up.

For Carroll, the worst-case scenario unfolded as he lost the side pot as well and was eliminated on the pay jump for $42,851.

"You can write in the blog that this was redemption for the other hand," Bowers mentioned.

With the board reading A6Q67 and 680,000 in the middle, Nitesh Rawtani checked from middle position and Jonathan Bowers bet 675,000, exactly enough to put Rawtani all in. Rawtani went into the tank.

"I can beat king-jack-ten and ace-jack-ten with the ace of hearts" Rawtani commented as he mulled over the decision. After another minute Rawtani stuck in the call.

Bowers showed QQ93 for a full house to take the pot while Rawtani quickly made his exit from the tournament area.

Eric Liu got his last 355,000 in preflop after Felipe Ramos had potted to 400,000 and they tabled the following cards.

Eric Liu: AA62 All in
Felipe Ramos: KKJ4

The KK5 flop brought some "ahhhhs" from the other players as Ramos instantly hit quads. Only running aces could come to the rescue for Liu, who found no miracle escape on the J turn and 10 river.
