Westmorland Bets Big on the River

Level 22 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Jordan Westmorland was in the small blind on a completed board of 3JQ55 when he led out for 875,000.

Yaroslav Ohulchanskyi, on the button, tanked for several minutes before he called. Westmorland turned over Q5 for a full house and Ohulchanskyi mucked to surrender the massive pot.

Michael Duek, last year's third-place finisher, is also at this table as he seeks another deep run to the final table.

Faraz Jaka
Faraz Jaka

Faraz Jaka sat in the small blind and was battling Nick Guagenti in a heads up pot worth 400,000 chips. The flop was already dealt and read 6107.

Jaka checked and called a subsequent 215,000 bet from Guagenti. On the following A turn, Jaka led for 250,000 and Nick raised that to 725,000, leaving only 425,000 chips behind.

Jaka mulled it over for a bit before announcing "all-in." Guagenti instantly folded and left himself short, while Jaka shipped a nice pot without showdown.

Chance Kornuth
Chance Kornuth

Anirban Das opened to 65,000 from the cutoff and Chance Kornuth and Jeremy Becker called in the blinds.

Kornuth and Becker checked on the flop of J84 and Das continued for 75,000. Only Kornuth called. Kornuth checked on the 3 turn and Das checked back.

The 10 river completed the board and Kornuth, in a Chip Leader Coaching hoodie and behind a pair of aviators, bet a massive 355,000 for nearly the size of the pot. Das called. Kornuth turned over AK for ace-high and Das tabled Q8 to win the pot with a pair of eights.

Guerin Eliminated by Brutal River

Level 22 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Adam Grovenstein opened to 65,000 from under the gun and was called by Sasha Guerin in late position.

The 5K7 flop saw Grovenstein continue for 50,000 with Guerin making the call to send action to the turn.

Grovenstein decided to slow down following the 9 turn, checking to Guerin who pushed 95,000 into the middle. After some thought, Grovenstein called.

The 10 hit the felt on the river, prompting Grovensein to take over the betting lead by making it 55,000 to call. Guerin, unperturbed, raised to 250,000 to leave himself just 25,000 behind. Grovenstein responded by putting his opponent all in and Guerin quickly called holding 77 for the flopped set. It was no good, however, as Grovenstein tabled 1010 for the rivered higher set to send Guerin to the rail in brutal fashion.
