Shiina Okamoto, the recent runner up of the WSOP Ladies Event, open-shoved for her last 90,000 and it folded to David Cossio-Ruiz who called on the button for the following showdown.
Shiina Okamoto: 2♠2♥
David Cossio-Ruiz: A♦K♦
Okamoto had to win the flip to stay alive in the tournament but the board gave 5♥10♥3♦7♥A♣ to give a pair of aces on the river to Cossio-Ruiz and eliminate Okamoto.
William Anderson raised to 24,000 with the 8♠8♦ from an early position and Richard Seymour three-bet to 65,000 with the K♠K♦ from the next seat.
Stephen Chidwick then four-bet to 510,000 out of the big blind with Q♠Q♥ and Anderson quickly folded.
"You got it, Stevie?" Seymour inquired and added "you got it, you got it" shortly after while he was still in the tank. Around two minutes passed in total before Seymour pushed all-in for 512,000 as Chidwick called.
The board ran out 9♣7♠3♥4♦A♥ and Seymour called a
"I wasn't trying to slowroll,I was just legit afraid you had aces," Seymour clarified while his stack was being counted.
In a heads-up pot with roughly 50,000 in the middle on a flop showing 5♠3♦2♣, Jason Mercier checked from the big blind to Jason Liu on the button who bet out 25,000. Mercier put in a check-raise to 67,000 and Liu came along.
The 2♠ hit the turn and Mercier kept up the aggression with a bet of 61,000. Liu took a moment before putting in a stack of 25,000 chips, covering the 160,000 behind for Mercier, who went deep in the tank.
After close to five minutes of thought, a player at the table called the clock and Mercier was given 30 seconds to act. As the clock ticked down, Mercier eventually tossed his cards into the muck and the pot was shipped to Liu.
"Four-seven of spades?" asked another player at the table who was curious of Mercier's holding.
Andrew Benedict opened to 22,000 in early position and was called by the cutoff. Jason Somerville three-bet to 110,000 from the small blind and Benedict ripped all in for 493,000. The cutoff quickly folded but Somerville asked for a count which took over two minutes. Somerville thought for an additional minute and then made the call.
Andrew Benedict: K♠K♣
Jason Somerville: A♥K♥
The dealer fanned the flop of A♠J♦8♦ with the ace in the window to give Somerville a commanding lead. The 10♥ on the turn provided some chop outs but the 8♣ on the river sent Benedict to the payout desk.
When walking around the Orange section of the Horseshoe, a gigantic stack caught the attention. It belonged to Emmanuel Lopez and amounted to a total of 3,000,000 chips, making him the far-and-away chipleader in this section.
With a sizeable pot already brewed of about 460,000 David Moses led out for 30,000 on the 6♥5♦5♠5♣ turn. Paul Kruger was the only opponent in the hand and made the call.
The 9♥ completed the board and Moses checked to Kruger who pushed forward a stack of green mixed with some reds. Moses asked for a count and the dealer let him know it was 390,000.
Moses went deep into the tank, and begin talking aloud. "You're repping ace-five of hearts, aces, kings. Would be sick if you had nines."
A few more moments went by before he continued, "If you're bluffing you have to show since PokerNews is here."
Kruger remained silent and still as Moses thought longer. He stacked up a pile of chips and looked as if he was about to call when he said, "Even though I don't think you're capable of bluffing here, I want to call."
After a couple of seconds longer a tablemate called time, and the floor came over.
Moses said as the floor came, "Sorry guys, I have had enough time."
Before the floor started the count down, Moses tossed his cards into the muck. "Show if you're bluffing. You'll have all the glory."
Kruger still remained silent as he pulled in the pot and Moses concluded with "Good hand, Paul."
Poker streamer Mehdi "GitAndSos" Saeed opened to 20,000 from middle position before Jason Mercier moved all in for 146,000 from late position. Action folded back around to Saeed who, after asking for a count, made the call.
Jason Mercier: 3♠3♦
Mehdi Saeed: 7♥7♠
Mercier was in rough shape and looked set to be eliminated from the tournament. The flop came 3♣2♦J♦, however, vaulting Mercier into a commanding lead. Nothing changed on the 8♣ turn but the river came 7♦, causing a collective gasp to spread around the table as Mercier made his exit.
Patrick "Egption" Tardif opened the action with a raise to 20,000 from early position. Bradley Butcher was in the next seat over and jammed all in for 221,000, covering Tardif.
It then folded to Jarett Mullins in the small blind, who thought for a bit before putting in the call. Tardif then called as well and it was a three-way preflop all-in.
Patrick Tardif: Q♠Q♦
Bradley Butcher: A♣K♥
Jarett Mullins: A♥K♠
Tardif was in a great spot to triple up, while the other two players were hoping to chop up his chips.
"I'll take five clubs," Butcher said before the flop came down 6♠9♥2♥.
"Heart!" Mullins commanded to no avail when the turn was the 7♣.
Both players then stayed quiet as the 5♦ river rolled off, officially giving Tardif the triple-up with his pair of queens. Meanwhile, Butcher was left with only three big blinds.
