Kamel Takes Smirnov to Value Town

Level 22 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Hassan Kamel
Hassan Kamel

On an AQ3 flop, Anton Smirnov checked from the small blind to Hassan Kamel, who was in late position. Kamel bet 120,000 and Smirnov called. The 9 on the turn got checked around.

Smirnov checked the 3 on the river and Kamel bet 160,000. Smirnov called but Kamel slapped A653 for treys full onto the felt. Smirnov could only acknowledge it and mucked his hand.

Simao's Time is Running Out

Level 22 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Joao Simao raised to 105,000 in the cutoff and was called by Ben Yu in the big blind, which brought them to the 532 flop. A staring contest ensued that lasted nearly two minutes before they checked to the 7 turn, on which Yu bet 60,000.

Simao only had 145,000 behind and went deep into the tank. The clock was called on him eventually and his 30 seconds to act ran down and his cards were declared dead.

Two Doubles for Leonard

Level 22 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Patrick Leonard
Patrick Leonard

On the brink, Patrick Leonard was all-in and at risk twice against John Holley. In the first hand, Leonard was all in for 65,000 with AA77 against Holley's AQ43 and doubled up after the board ran out K9355.

In the subsequent hand, Holley and Leonard saw a 986 flop appear with about half of Leonard's stack already in after Holley had raised to 80,000. Holley then check-called the shove from Leonard.

John Holley: AK54

The board ran out 104 to complete both the ace-high flush and nut low for the British pro.

Two Wheels and a Raise

Level 22 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

In a limped battle of the blinds, Dylan Weisman checked the AK2 flop and Maxx Coleman checked behind to see the 3 turn. Weisman checked and subsequently check-raised from 75,000 to 180,000 with Coleman sticking around.

Weisman jammed the 5 river and Coleman called with the former showing K754. Coleman also had the wheel with the J542 and they chopped it up.

Dzmitry Urbanovich then raised to 60,000 and Naoya Kihara defended the big blind. Both checked the 1092 flop and Kihara bet the 6 turn for 130,000. Urbanovich check-raised the pot and Kihara folded.

Simao Keeps Hanging Around

Level 22 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Joao Simao raised to 105,000 in early position, leaving just 75,000 behind. Stephen Deutsch came along with a call in late position.

Simao bet 65,000 on the J87 flop, Deutsch stuck the rest in, and Simao briefly glanced over at the other table before calling.

Joao Simao: AQ43
Stephen Deutsch: AQ95

"Not much," Deutsch said about his own hand. After the J turn and A river, both players played ace-queen for high, while Simao had the best low with 8-7-4-3-A to take three quarters.

Kihara Nearing a Million

Level 22 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Naoya Kihara raised to 105,000 and Paul Volpe called out of the small blind. The A103 flop was reluctantly checked by Volpe and Kihara then instantly bet the pot for 270,000.

That was enough to win the pot as Volpe folded. "Set of aces?" Volpe inquired and Kihara grinned, replied all but a "maybe."

Simao Gets Three-Quartered

Joao Simao
Joao Simao

A rather innocuous blind-on-blind battle between Long Tran and Joao Simao exploded on the river when the dealer completed the J10275 board. Simao bet a large part of his stack, Tran stuck the rest in and Simao called.

Tran rolled over A554 for the nut flush and a 7-5-4-2-A low. Simao tabled AK104 for the same low to escape with a quarter of the pot.

Leonard Chops for Minor Profit

Level 22 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Patrick Leonard
Patrick Leonard

Three ways to the J85 flop, John Holley checked out of the small blind and Patrick Leonard got his last 45,000 in from the big blind. Ben Yu called in the hijack and Holley then check-raised the pot to 420,000.

Dylan Weisman walked over to sweat the showdown with Leonard while Yu was in the tank, which was remarked upon by Holley. Eventually, Yu folded and the cards were flipped over.

Patrick Leonard: AQ63
John Holley: KQ96

"Oh, I have nothing, I was just making a play ... it seemed like a good spot," Holley said when the cards had been exposed.

The board completed with the 9 turn and 3 river as Holley won the high pot with a pair of nines and Leonard took the low.
