Sowers’ Full House Eliminates McClellen

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Kyle McClellen raised to 50,000 in early position and received calls from Mike Sowers on the button and the player in the small blind.

The flop showed AJ6, which drew checks from the small blind and McClellan. Sowers, though, bet and McClellan called after the small blind folded. The turn produced A and fireworks.

McClellan led into Sowers for 120,000, and Sowers responded by moving all in. McClellan looked at the board, and then called.

Sowers: 66
McClellan: AK

McClellen found his trip aces up against Sowers’ full house and needed help on the river. The 8, though, gave Sowers the pot and eliminated McClellen.

Ping Liu

The board was all but rushed away as the dealer announced a seat open over on table 659 and Ping Liu was spotted on his way out of the tournament area. His A8 were still visible and the pot was pushed to Tony Miles, who mentioned that he had won the showdown with pocket jacks.

In the meanwhile, Ankit Ahuja raised from the button and called a three-bet out of the small blind by Jared Jaffee which led them to the AQ8 flop. Jaffee's continuation bet took down the pot as he further increased his growing tower.
