After Mark Simon showed Daniel Negreanu that he'd bluffed him just one level previously, the railbirds were well aware of the dynamic developing between the two players.
Simon raised from middle position to 350,000. Negreanu in the hijack three-bet to 1,000,000 and the action was back on Simon. After thinking for some time his cards eventually hit the muck.
Negreanu took back some of the chips he'd lost to Simon previously as the players continue to battle on.
The board read 3♠9♠A♠2♥ with two players remaining in the pot. Lance Jeroszko checked the action over to a player in the cutoff who bet out for 475,000.
After considering all his options Jeroszko decided to shove all in for 1,650,000. With his opponent clearly in a tough spot, they eventually settled on folding and Jeroszko stacked his newly acquired chips.
A player in early position bet 350,000 on a board of 10♣6♦3♠. In the hijack was Andrew Burke who chose to continue.
The 9♣ came on the turn and the original raiser barreled once again for 600,000. Burke opted to see the river.
The 9♦ fell and the action now checked over to Burke who took the betting lead by committing an additional 1,100,000 chips to the pot. After a considerable amount of time in the tank, Burke's opponent eventually folded.
Five-time bracelet winner and 1998 Main Event Champion Scotty Nguyen will miss the first half of the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) as the Vietnamese-American poker icon recovers from surgery.
Nguyen, always a fan-favorite of WSOP, took to Twitter earlier this week to announce he was undergoing surgery for slipping rib syndrome, a condition that can cause severe chest pain in addition to "a slipping, clicking, or popping sensation in the lower chest," according to an article published in Psychopharmacology Bulletin.
But it's not all over, baby. Nguyen tweeted today to let his fans know that the surgery was a success and that he hopes to recover in time for the second half of the WSOP.
