Paul Volpe Eliminated in 11th Place ($25,822)
No-Limit Hold'em
Much to the surprise of everyone else at the table, Chad Eveslage selected No-Limit Hold'em instead of his usual Badeucey and then raised from under the gun. Paul Volpe called out of the big blind. On a flop of 10♥9♣3♣, both invested 55,000 and that led to the 6♥ turn on which Volpe checked.
Eveslage bet 160,000 and Volpe called after short consideration, then checked the 5♦ on the river. With the superior stack, Eveslage pushed all-in and Volpe called within fewer than five seconds.
Eveslage tabled the 3♦3♠ for a set and Volpe mucked the A♦A♣ to bow out in 11th place.
"For the first time in his life, he calls NLHE and hits a set in the first hand ..." Marco Johnson stated in table chat. Mike Gorodinsky chimed in "that's really scary, man ... really scary".
