Event #10: $10,000 Dealer's Choice Championship
Day 3 Started
The opening stages of the 2023 World Series of Poker at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas are set to be crowning a winner in the second Championship Event of the annual live poker festival in Sin City. Event #10: $10,000 Dealer's Choice Championship drew a total of 130 entries to set a new record attendance and just 13 hopefuls remain in contention for the $311,428 first place prize, the biggest slice of the $1,209,000 prize pool.
Only two days ago, Chad Eveslage won his second WSOP bracelet in Event #5: $1,500 Dealer's Choice (6-Handed) and he has the chance to add a third to his collection. On his sixth day of this mixed game contest with 20 different poker variants included, he returns as the chip leader with 1,371,000 followed by Trinidad's Ryan Goindoo (1,075,000) and Marco Johnson (925,000).
A repeat victory would put his feat in a similar category as the three consecutive wins of Adam Friedman in this very event but it won't be an easy ride by any means. Nine of the thirteen remaining contenders already have at least one WSOP gold bracelet to their name, such as Ari Engel (767,000), Day 1 chip leader John Hennigan (519,000), last year's runner-up Mike Gorodinsky (496,000), Paul Volpe (340,000), Dutch Boyd (256,000), James Obst (250,000), and Scott Bohlman (113,000).
Besides second-placed Goindoo, an additional trio of players is seeking their first bracelet. Jordan Siegel (858,000), Dustin Dirksen (442,000), and Zack Freeman (388,000) all remain in contention with the eyes set on a potential maiden victory.
The third and scheduled final day will recommence at 2 p.m. local time in the Paris Purple section with level 18. Limits in draw and stud games will be 20,000-40,000, and the levels continue to last 90 minutes each until a winner has been crowned. There will be a redraw with 12 and 7 players and it remains to be seen whether a champion can be crowned tonight. One year ago, an additional tournament day was required to determine the winner of the WSOP gold bracelet.

Big O
Mike Gorodinsky raised to 25,000 and Zack Freeman in the small blind reraised the pot for 85,000 total. "You play like 400k?" Gorodinsky inquired and then called. They got it in after the 5♣4♣4♠ flop via check-shove by Freeman and Gorodinsky called with the slightly superior stack.
Zack Freeman: A♥K♣J♦J♠2♣
Mike Gorodinsky: A♣8♥6♣3♦2♠
When the turn brought the K♠, Gorodinsky sighed an "not like this" and he indeed bricked it all on the 5♠ river.
Freeman doubled for 398,000 total throughout the hand to leave Gorodinsky short. "That was an unfortunate runout," he added in the table chat.

Big O
A short-stacked Mike Gorodinsky potted to 40,000 from the small blind and called off when Chad Eveslage re-potted in the big blind.
Mike Gorodinsky: A♦9♦7♣5♣4♦
Chad Eveslage: A♠A♣Q♣J♣4♠
Gorodinsky was able to crack aces to stay alive as the board ran out K♦4♥8♣3♠6♥ to give him a straight and a low to scoop the pot.
"What the f*** is going on here?" sighed Chad Eveslage.
"Chad, shut the f*** up. Not now," laughed Gorodinsky.

Pot-Limit 2-7 Triple Draw
Paul Volpe raised on the button for Dutch Boyd to call out of the big blind. Both discarded two on the first draw and Boyd checked. Volpe then bet the pot by tossing out two T-25,000 chips only for Boyd to shove for 201,000 total.
The call by Volpe followed and Boyd patted, while Volpe discarded one. Boyd also patted the final draw as Volpe required one more card again.
Dutch Boyd: 9x8x6x5x3x
Paul Volpe: 7x4x3x2x
As Volpe peeled, he mentioned "two across" but paired the 4x for Boyd to double, who let out a long sigh of relief.

Badeucey
Dutch Boyd scooped a pot off John Hennigan with 9♥ / 6♠5♥3♦2♣ who then raised the button, earning a call from Scott Bohlman in the big blinds. Both discarded two and Bohlman check-called a bet.
On the second draw, Bohlman discarded two versus pat to check-call again and then discarded one versus pat to check with very few chips behind. Hennigan bet again and Bohlman folded.
One hand later, the game type switched to No-Limit Hold'em and Bohlman jammed for 38,000 out of the small blind into the big blind of James Obst, who called.
Scott Bohlman: 6♥6♣
James Obst: 9♠2♠
The board ran out A♣Q♦8♠A♦3♥ and Bohlman doubled.

Pot-Limit Omaha 8 or Better
Ryan Goindoo opened to 30,000 on the button and Jordan Siegel three-bet to 100,000 in the big blind. Goindoo responded by four-betting to 290,000 to send Siegel into the tank as Chad Eveslage and others made note of the massive hand forming.
"This is an action game!" commented Dustin Dirksen. "Let's play this the rest of the way."
Siegel called and then led all in for 438,000 on the flop of 5♦K♠8♦. Goindoo got a count and confirmed the pot before calling with a bigger stack.
Jordan Siegel: A♦A♥J♥10♦
Ryan Goindoo: A♠A♣J♣7♠
Both players had aces and Siegel had a flush draw to go with it before the board finished out 6♥3♣ to give Goindoo a low to quarter Siegel as the two chopped the high.
The two discussed the hand as the dealer pushed Siegel his remaining chips and shipped the rest to Goindoo.
"There's 600,000 in the middle. How can I fold? I don't think either of us could fold there," Goindoo said.
"If there's a hand you could fold, you had it," Siegel replied.
"You think so?"

No-Limit Hold'em
Scott Bohlman got his short stack of 91,000 into the middle with the A♣9♦ and James Obst did so with the marginally covering stack right behind that, exposing A♥4♣. The board ran out K♣J♥7♦5♥9♠ and Bohlman remained ahead all the way, even pairing his superior kicker.
Obst was then all-in for fumes with J♠9♠ against the 5♣5♦ of Dutch Boyd in the big blind. The K♠10♣7♥Q♥8♣ runout kept Obst in contention.
At the same time over on table 144, Mike Gorodinsky scooped against Ari Engel in Badeucey with Q♥ / 10♥7♠6♦3♣ as Engel missed an eight draw and ended with the 8♠ / K♦6♠4♥2♣
