Levine Gets A Fold

Level 25 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Matthew Levine
Matthew Levine

Yuliyan Kolev opened to 125,000 from the cutoff and received a sole call from Matthew Levine in the big blind.

Levine checked on a flop of {q-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{a-Spades} and then called when Kolev continued for 100,000.

The {q-Hearts} turn saw Levine take over the betting lead, firing off 225,000. Kolev made the call to send the two players to the river.

On the {7-Clubs} river Levine bet again, this time sizing up to 330,000. Kolev appeared uncomfortable with the decision at hand and eventually released his cards, eliciting a chorus of cheers from Levine's overtly vocal rail.

Mermelstein Flops the Nuts

Level 25 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Rok Gostisa opened to 130,000 in early position and Aaron Mermelstein defended from the big blind. The flop came {q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and Mermelstein just check-called a bet of 110,000 from Gostisa.

The turn brought the {9-Hearts} and Mermelstein checked again. Gostisa made another bet of 150,000 this time and Mermelstein still called. The {9-Spades} paired the board on the river and both players checked. Mermelstein showed {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a straight and was awarded the pot.

Loud enthusiastic cheers were heard as Matthew Levine had doubled through Espen Jorstad.

Levine had gotten his 965,000 chips in with {k-}{q-} against Jorstad's {j-}{j-}, and the board ran out {9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{9-Spades}{q-Diamonds} to give Levine the double on the river.

"Sorry," Levine apologized for the sudden outburst of his rail.

"I didn't know they were behind me so I was scared shitless!" replied GGPoker qualifier and recent bracelet-winner Jorstad.

Radwan Doubles Through Carreno

Level 25 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Action was on a {q-Hearts}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} board and Fabian Schaefer Carreno had checked to Mohammed Radwan who had shoved for 665,000 into a pot of a similar amount.

Carreno thought through his options and eventually called with {q-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for top pair. However, Radwan had him outkicked with {k-Clubs}{q-Spades} and improved to two pair on the {k-Diamonds} river.

Carreno lost a chunk of his stack but still sits with more than double average. Additionally, he has received some of the first 500,000 denomination chips in the Main Event.
