Fuchs Folds; Lives Chops, & Whitaker Among the Early Day 2 Casualties

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Carol Fuchs was in the big blind and defended against an open raise and a call. On the {q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop, Fuchs check-called and then check-folded the {8-Hearts} turn when Brian Lives bet again and Sirous Baghchehsaraie called. After the {2-Diamonds} river, Lives check-called the all-in of his table neighbor and they chopped it with {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} (Aces-up) versus {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades} (nut low).

One hand later, Jeffrey Whitaker was all-in from the cutoff and earned calls on the button and big blind. The big blind got it in after the {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop and was called by Michael Chow.

Jeffrey Whitaker: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{5-Spades} (one pair and straight draw)
Big blind: {a-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades} (bigger pair, flopped nut low with straight draw)
Michael Chow: {k-Clubs}{7-Spades}{6-Spades}{4-Clubs} (flopped flush)

The {10-Hearts} turn and {j-Spades} river were already meaningless as Whitaker's elimination was confirmed on the turn, while the big blind escaped for half the pot with the nut low.
