Vogelsang off to Early Lead over Smith

Level 47 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

Christoph Vogelsang opened to 50,000 and was met with a 200,000 chip three-bet from Dan Smith. Vogelsang called as they went to the {6-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop.

Smith opted to check and Vogelsang went for a bet of 125,000. Smith called.

The {8-Clubs} hit the board and, after a minute, Vogelsang continued for 250,000 more. Smith called once again as the pot ballooned to 1.15 million.

The {3-Diamonds} arrived on the river and both players quickly tapped the table, with Vogelsang's {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs} good enough to take down the pot and the early advantage.

Dario Sammartino Eliminated in 3rd Place ($193,537)

Level 43 : 40,000/80,000, 0 ante
Dario Sammartino
Dario Sammartino

Dan Smith open-shipped all in on the button and Dario Sammartino called off his stack of 1,410,000 to put himself at risk.

Dario Sammartino: {a-Spades}{6-Clubs}
Dan Smith: {a-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}

It looked quite possible that a chop would take place again, but the flop of {9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts} gave Smith the lead with a pair of fours. The {a-Clubs} on the turn gave Sammartino some more outs but the {k-Clubs} on the river sealed the deal.

Sammartino fell just short of winning his first WSOP bracelet while Dan Smith will be looking for his first when he takes on Christoph Vogelsang in the final.

Level 43 : 40,000/80,000, 0 ante

Dario Sammartino: {k-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
Dan Smith: {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

The flop came {9-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}, putting Sammartino in the lead.

The {6-Hearts} turn put chop possibilities out there but the {j-Spades} gave Sammartino the double-up.

Sammartino Gets Shorter

Level 43 : 40,000/80,000, 0 ante

Dario Sammartino limped in on the button with the {q-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and Dan Smith raised it up to 220,000 with the {k-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. Sammartino called.

The flop came {6-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, Smith quickly checked and Sammartino did the same to see the {j-Diamonds} on the turn. They both checked again for the {10-Clubs} to complete the board. No further action came for Smith to show the best hand to claim the pot.
