Cowen Takes The Lead From Lamb

Level 29 : 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante
Robert Cowen
Robert Cowen

In the first hand in three-handed play, Robert Cowen raised to 600,000 on the button with the {a-Spades}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and Ben Lamb defended the big blind with the {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs}. On the {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{2-Spades} flop, Lamb check-called for 550,000 and the {2-Diamonds} turn paired the board.

Lamb checked for the second time and then called a bet worth 850,000 as the {5-Spades} river improved both players.

The third check by Lamb triggered a third barrel by Cowen worth 2,400,000 into 4,450,000 for just over half the pot.

Lamb was staring his opponent down while the Brit only glanced at the board. The call followed and that changed the lead, as Cowen now pulled ahead of Lamb by a small margin.

Cowen Chips Up With Relentless Aggression

Level 30 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante

Ben Lamb limped the small blind with the {9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and Robert Cowen raised the pot with the {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for Lamb to call. On the {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop, Lamb checked and folded once Cowen bet 1,350,000.

Cowen then raised the pot with the {a-Spades}{k-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} in the small blind and Dash Dudley glanced at the {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{5-Hearts} in the big blind. A very reluctant fold followed as Cowen pulled even further ahead with his very aggressive play.

Cowen Takes Overwhelming Lead With Quads

Level 30 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante
Robert Cowen
Robert Cowen

Ben Lamb limped in with the {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop and Robert Cowen checked it back with the {k-Clubs}{10-Spades}{4-Spades}{4-Clubs}. Both checked the {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop and Lamb checked the {7-Clubs} turn with the nuts and flush redraw. Cowen bet 550,000 and Lamb made the call as they headed to the {4-Hearts} on the river, giving Cowen quads.

With 2,300,000 in the middle, Lamb checked and Cowen bet the full pot. Some 15 seconds of consideration followed and Lamb then called to have Cowen declare his quads before flashing the cards

"I was hoping it was aces full versus quads," Dash Dudley said in table chat right after the cards were tabled.

Dudley Doubles Through Lamb

Level 30 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante
Dash Dudley
Dash Dudley

In a battle of the short stacks, Dash Dudley raised the pot to 1,400,000 on the button and Ben Lamb repotted in the small blind for the two short stacks to clash.

Dash Dudley: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}
Ben Lamb: {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}

Dudley retained his lead on the {8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop on which both players had a straight draw. The {k-Clubs} turn made things even more spicy but the {a-Spades} river secured the double for Dudley to send Lamb all the way to just seven blinds.

Ben Lamb Eliminated in 3rd Place ($622,861)

Level 30 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante
Ben Lamb
Ben Lamb

Ben Lamb raised the pot and then called all in for 1,375,000 in a battle of the blinds when Robert Cowen reraised. There was some discussion whether or not it was a call as Cowen had tossed in two chips but they eventually settled on the preflop contest.

Ben Lamb: {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
Robert Cowen: {7-Hearts}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}

The {j-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop gave both players a pair while Cowen also had a straight and flush draw to go with it. After the {6-Clubs} turn, Cowen improved to a straight while Lamb had outs to a full house. However, the miracle escape never came when a blank {4-Spades} river only improved Cowen to a flush.

After being the chip leader with half the chips in play an hour ago, Lamb has to settle for third place and a payday of $622,861. Cowen will enter heads-up play against Dash Dudley with a lead of more than three-to-one.
