Reid Takes a Big One From Berge

Level 33

Jermaine Reid: {x-}{x-}/{7-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{2-Spades}/{x-}
Peder Berge: {x-}{x-}/{10-Spades}{6-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{3-Clubs}/{x-}

Betting went back and forth with a large pot built by the time cards were shown down after seventh street.

Reid first defended his bring-in to a completion from Berge, then check-called bets on fourth and fifth streets, before taking the lead on sixth.

The players then checked seventh street, and Reid announced "two pair" as he showed {j-Spades}{7-Spades}{2-Diamonds} for sevens and deuces, while Berge could only show a pair of losing tens.

John Hoang Eliminated In 3rd Place ($48,138)

Level 33
John Hoang
John Hoang

John Hoang has just been eliminated from the tournament in a brutal fashion by Peder Berge.

On third street, Hoang brought in, then called a completion from Berge.

On fourth street, Berge check-called a bet from Hoang, who was getting short.

Fifth street witnessed Berge take the opportunity to bet first, which got a call from Hoang.

Berge then bet again on sixth street, and Hoang frustratedly smashed his last stack of chips forward to put his tournament life at risk.

John Hoang: {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}/{4-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}/{x-}
Peder Berge: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}/{j-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}/{x-}

Hoang feared he may have been dead to trip jacks, but was thrilled to see his rolled up fours were actually the best hand.

Hoang opened an inconsequential {k-Diamonds} on seventh street, but then Berge slowly peeked at his final card and said, "I have three aces" as he flipped up the {a-Diamonds} to drive a proverbial dagger into Hoang, ending his tournament with a horrific bad beat.

Three See Fourth Street

Level 33

Jermaine Reid: {x-}{x-}/{7-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}
John Hoang: {x-}{x-}/{a-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{10-Spades} - folded
Peder Berge: {x-}{x-}/{7-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} - folded

Peder Berge called before John Hoang completed. Berge called, as did Jermaine Reid. Hoang bet on fourth street and Reid hung around while Berge folded.

Reid took the lead on fifth street with a bet and Hoang quickly let go out of his hand.

Fatigue Leads to Costly Calls, Hoang Doubles

Level 33
John Hoang
John Hoang

On third street, Peder Berge brought in, and John Hoang limped behind.

Hoang then led out on fourth and fifth streets, with Berge calling on each.

On sixth street, Hoang bet again, leaving himself just 210,000 behind, less than one big bet. Berge somewhat lackadaisically put forward a call.

"Just call?" Asked Hoang.

"Yeah, I don't wanna put you in", replied Berge.

Before seventh street was dealt, Hoang bet his last 210,000 dark, and Berge turned up his cards, showing {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} for a pair of jacks.

Hoang questioned whether Berge was calling, to which Berge said, "sure, yeah" and cut out the 210,000.

Hoang immediately showed {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for two pair, kings and sixes.

As Berge's chips were pushed to Hoang, Berge muttered to himself "that was stupid."

Peder Berge: {x-}{x-}/{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{5-Spades}/{x-}

Peder Berge completed and Jermaine Reid called. Reid caught a pair of eights on fourth street and led out. Berge called, then called bets on fifth and sixth.

Reid bet again on seventh and Berge called. "Full house," Reid announced, showing {j-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} for eights full of nines.

Berge showed an ace and a four for a straight before mucking as Reid narrowly took the tournament chip lead.

Raise!

Level 32

A word that hasn't been uttered in a non all-in pot in quite some time was just spoken in a big pot between John Hoang and Peder Berge.

Hoang defended his bring-in versus a completion from Berge, then after making a pair of deuces on fourth street, he bet and was called by Berge who held the {x-}{x-}/{7-Hearts}{j-Hearts}.

On fifth street, Hoang continued the aggression with another bet after being given the {k-Spades}. However, now showing the {7-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} as his up cards, Berge announced a raise, which at this level was to 600,000.

Hoang gave it a bit of thought but then folded, with Berge saying afterward he had started the hand with buried tens and made trips on fifth street.

John Hoang: {x-}{x-}/{6-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}/{x-}
Jermaine Reid: {x-}{x-}/{k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{7-Spades}{2-Hearts}/{x-}

Jermaine Reid completed and John Hoang called. Hoang made a pair of sixes on fourth but threw his arms up in the air when Reid made a pair of kings. He called a bet and another on fifth.

Hoang took the lead with an all-in bet on sixth and Reid called. Hoang waited for Reid to turn over his {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{4-Spades} first before he showed {q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} for a full house, sixes full of aces, to beat Reid's two pair.

Betting and Calling and Seventh Street, Oh My!

Level 32

In the first hand back from break featured the first pot to go to seventh street in quite some time with Jermaine Reid the beneficiary.

Reid called a bet on fourth street from John Hoang, then with the betting lead on fifth and sixth, led out into Hoang and got a pair of calls.

Jermaine Reid: {x-}{x-}/{8-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}/{x-}
John Hoang: {x-}{x-}/{5-Clubs}{8-Spades}{q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}/{x-}

On seventh street the players each checked, but a large pot was there to be claimed.

Reid turned over the {10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} for a pair of eights, which was enough to win the pot and move him over four million in chips.
