Stammen Flops Eight to More than Double

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Action was on big stack Robert Natividad after it appeared that two players were all in, one of them being Matthew Stammen who had the bigger of the two all in stacks.

It was relayed by another player at the table that the first all in player had already exposed his hand which was pocket fours, adding another layer to Natividad's decision. After a lengthy tank, Natividad called and showed {j-}{j-} which was ahead of the pocket fours and the {8-}{8-} of Stammen.

A few comments were made about the length of time Natividad took to call with jacks as the flop binked in Stammen's favor as it came {8-}{k-}{k-}. The turn was the {5-Hearts} and the river the {4-Hearts} to confirm a big boost of chips to Stammen, eliminate the player with fours and put a dent in Natividad's stack.

The players continued to discuss the situation after the hand was over, Natividad stating how the exposed hand played a significant role in his decision, thinking how it may have affected Stammen's decision to shove.

Romano and Meijer Van Putten Show Their Cards

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Jasper Meijer Van Putten raised to 12,000 from the early position and was called by the player in the middle position, and Jay Romano and Simon Deadman in the blinds.

The flop came {8-Spades}{10-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, Romano bet 17,500, Deadman folded, and Meijer Van Putten raised to 45,000. The middle position player folded and Romano contemplated his options. After a while, Romano folded but showed he had the {10-Spades}.

"Show me?" Romano asked Meijer Van Putten.

Meijer Van Putten hesitated for a while, "I'll show if you show next time when I ask."

Romano agreed and Meijer Van Putten showed {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}.

Holley Finds a Big Fold

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

John Holley had a wager of 44,000 in front of him in middle position. A couple of seats over, Johann Ibanez was all in from the hijack for 327,000.

"I wish I had been at this table a little bit longer," Holley said with a sigh. "I'd know exactly what to do."

After another minute or so, he mucked {q-Spades}{q-Clubs} face up. Ibanez said he could pick a card and Holley turned up the {k-Clubs}.

"Kings, 100 percent," Kevin Saul said. "If he lets you pick one, it's always kings."

Holley seemed less confident, seeming to think he may have folded the slight favorite against ace-king.

"I don't fold queens too often," he declared.

Robinson Crushes a Dream

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Nelson Robinson was all in from the big blind on a completed board of {j-Hearts}{3-Spades}{10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}. A player in the hijack had a bet of 85,000 in front of him into a pot of about 130,000, and Robinson's jam was for 225,000 more effective. The player under the heat fidgeted in his seat and stood up anxiously.

"Seven-four of hearts?" he wondered aloud.

Finally, he flicked in a chip to call, and Robinson turned over the hand he dreaded: {7-Hearts}{4-Hearts}. The player tossed in {6-Hearts}{6-Spades} and knelt by the rail, crushed.

Phan Cracks Kings to Double

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
John Phan
John Phan

A raise to 11,000 resulted in the three-bet to 51,000 by John Phan on the button and Chris Hunichen in the big blind verified the bet size before squeezing to 151,000. The initial raiser folded and Phan called all in for fewer than 100,000.

John Phan: {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Chris Hunichen: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}

Phan was asking for an ace and his wish was granted on the {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop. The {j-Spades} turn opened up some straight outs and Phan asked for the {5-Clubs}. He didn't mind the {6-Clubs} river either and avoided elimination.

Hegele and Papadopouluos Avoid Huge Confrontation

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

On a {q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} flop Robin Hegele bet 25,000 out of the blinds and Kyriakos Papadopouluos raised to 80,000. Hegele called.

The turn was the {k-Diamonds} and Hegele checked. Papadopouluos bet 55,000 this time and Hegele called.

Hegele checked the {8-Hearts} river and Papadopouluos eventually checked behind. Hegele showed {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} and Papadopouluos promptly mucked.

A relieved Hegele wiped his brow and took down the pot.

Pisapia Bombs River

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

In a pot of about 250,000 on the middle and the board reading {3-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} Cassio Pisapia was first to act and thought for several moments before firing a bet of 195,000 into his opponent.

His opponent thought it over for quite a while before opting to fold to give the Brazilian more chips to his massive stack.

Meanwhile another big stack in the room is gaining chips as according to Galen Hall, he is up to 1,360,000.
