Hellmuth Folds to the "Crazy Asian"

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Phil Hellmuth raised to 2,200 from the cutoff and was called by the big blind. The flop came {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and the action checked to Hellmuth who continued for 2,600. His opponent called and the {5-Diamonds} landed on the turn.

Both players tapped the table and the {6-Spades} rolled off on the river. The big blind bet 2,500 and Hellmuth quickly sent his cards to the muck.

"No fear?" Hellmuth asked.

"Crazy Asian," his opponent responded, talking about himself.

"I like it."

Burkhart Loses a Huge Portion of Her Stack; Eliminated Shortly After

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante
Jacqueline Burkhart - from the Ladies Event
Jacqueline Burkhart - from the Ladies Event

Anthony Reategui opened with a raise to 2,000 from the cutoff and the player in the small blind called before Jacqueline Burkhart made it 10,500 from the big blind. Reategui decided to four-bet, making it 22,000 and the small blind folded. Burkhart had other plans though and she called.

The flop was {j-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and Burkhart checked. Reategui put out a bet of 12,000 and Burkhart called.

The turn was the {7-Hearts} and Burkhart checked again. Reategui grabbed a chunk of orange T5,000 chips, enough to put Burkhart all in, and plopped them out in front of him. Burkhart quickly folded her hand, leaving herself with around 43,600 chips.

After the hand, Reategui made a comment about having {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}.

"You can stack someone's chips, and you can needle somebody, but it's poor etiquette to do both at the same time," Burkhart said after the hand.

Burkhart didn't last much longer, she was eliminated from the tournament just a few hands later.

Lehr Wins One

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Keith Lehr raised from the cutoff and was called by Michael Michnik and Ignacio Sanchez in the blinds.

The flop came {10-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{j-Diamonds} and both Michnik and Sanchez checked. Lehr bet another 2,500 and only Michnik called.

They both checked through the {8-Diamonds} on the turn to the {4-Hearts} on the river. Michnik check-called the 2,000 bet of Lehr. Michnik showed {a-Spades}{k-Clubs} and was beaten by the {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} of Lehr.

Michnik wasn't too happy about losing the hand and commented: "Good raise there with eight-six offsuit...".

"Thank you!" Lehr responded laconically.

Nitsche Looks into a Boat

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Dominik Nitsche raised from the middle and found one caller in the big blind. The flop of {3-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} was checked and Nitsche called 1,000 on the {7-Hearts} turn. The {3-Diamonds} river double paired the board and Nitsche faced a bet of 4,000. He grabbed the calling chips and thought about his decision for a while, then threw them in. Unfortunately for him, his opponent showed {A-Diamonds}{7-Spades} for a full house and Nitsche is now playing a half of the starting stack.

No Value For Charania

Mohsin Charania on Day 1c
Mohsin Charania on Day 1c

Everybody folded to Mohsin Charania in the cutoff and he raised to 1,700. Kliment Tarmakov defended his big blind and both went heads-up to the flop.

Charania continued with a bet of 1,500 on the {7-Spades}{J-Hearts}{8-Spades} flop after Tarmakov had checked to him, but even that was too much for the Canadian to call so he folded.

Charania opened up {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} while he raked in the small pot.

Kempe Takes a Big Hit

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante
Rainer Kempe
Rainer Kempe

Plenty of chips were already in the middle as Luis Pinho in the small blind had a reraise to 11,000 in front and Rainer Kempe in middle position had called. Tu Huynh in the cutoff moved all in for 67,400 and Pinho folded reluctantly.

"Let's hope you have ace king," Kempe announced and called for pretty much half of his stack.

Tu Huynh: {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}
Rainer Kempe: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

Kempe's pocket pair was dominated and the board of {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades}{6-Hearts} changed nothing whatsoever.

"You folded ace king?" Kempe asked over to Pinho, but received no reply.

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante
Fatima Moreira de Melo
Fatima Moreira de Melo

Fatima Moreira de Melo has just been moved to Table #25 here in the Brasilia room and managed to pick up a pot immediately.

Moreira de Melo raised to 1,700 from the button and Matthieu Lamagnere called in the big blind.

The flop came {4-Spades}{q-Spades}{5-Hearts}, Lamagnere check-raised to 5,400 when Moreira de Melo continued with a bet of 2,200. Moreira de Melo called.

The turn brought them the {8-Hearts}, Lamagnere now took the initiative to bet 8,500. Moreira de Melo looked at Lamagnere and then made the call.

The river completed the board with the {6-Spades}, Lamagnere's continuation-bet of 13,200 was called by Moreira de Melo without much hesitation. Lamagnere showed {6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for the pair of sixes on the river. Moreira de Melo tabled {q-Clubs}{7-Clubs} though for the rivered straight to win the whole pot.
