Chen Picks Off a Bluffer

Level 1 : 75/150, 0 ante

On a completed board of {4-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{5-Spades}{7-Diamonds}, with about 6,000 in the pot, the big blind bet 4,000 into two opponents. James Chen called in the cutoff and action was on the button. The player sitting there mucked, and the big blind followed suit, so Chen didn't even have to show his cards to take in the hefty early pot.

Steffen Sontheimer (as seen in a previous event)

Steffen "Goose" Sontheimer is off to a great start to the 2018 Main Event, having already increased his stack to 85,000 through the first 30 minutes of play.

Sontheimer was recently seen squeezing to 2,000 over a raise from middle position and a call from a player in the cutoff. Sontheimer received a cold-call from the big blind and the other two players released their hands.

The {10-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} flop was quickly checked by both players and the {8-Spades} landed on the turn. Sontheimer fired 5,000 in position and his opponent folded.

Daniel Negreanu in a previous event

Davidi Kitai and Daniel Negreanu are seated at the same table and were already involved in a hand together.

The flop read {2-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{A-Spades} and it had checked to Kitai on the button. He had three opponents but wasn't scared to fire out 750. Everybody folded to Negreanu and he thought about it for a second, before also sending his cards to the muck.

Mike Watson earlier this summer
Mike Watson earlier this summer

There had been a raise and a three-bet before the action got to Mike Watson in the big blind. He four-bet to 4,500 and the small blind called.

The flop came {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and the small blind checked. Watson continued for 3,000 and the small blind called.

The {10-Spades} hit the turn and the small blind checked. Watson bet again, 7,500 this time, and his opponent called.

The river brought the {10-Clubs} and both players checked. The small blind flipped over {A-Spades}{J-Spades} but Watson tabled {A-Hearts}{K-Spades} to take the pot with top two pair.
