Odd Play Leads to an Altman Win

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Brian Altman opened to 110,000 from middle position and Paulo Goncalves called from the big blind. The flop came {q-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Goncalves checked to Altman who continued for 90,000. Goncalves called and the {a-Spades} landed on the turn.

Goncalves checked again and Altman checked behind. The river brought the {8-Clubs} and Goncalves just open-folded his cards. The dealer was a bit hesitant but still brought them into the muck. Altman shrugged his shoulders and flipped over {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for just nine high, but it earned him the pot.

"What a sick hand," Scott Davies said as the table had a bit of a laugh.
