Hampton's Rough Eight Holds

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante

2-7 Triple Draw

Johannes Becker raised in the first position and Jesse Hampton countered with a three-bet out of the small blind. Becker called.

Hampton was pat right away and Becker changed two. He called another bet and then changed one. Hampton moved all-in for last 16,000 and Becker called off, drawing one.

Hampton turned up {8-}{7-}{6-}{5-}{3-} for a rough eight and Becker had a chance to score the knockout with any four, six or seven. However, he'd only receive a nine to make {9-}{8-}{5-}{3-}{2-}, not enough to halt Hampton's tournament run.

The Scariest Man at the Table

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante
Chris Vitch
Chris Vitch

Just after the hand where Hampton got short, the dealer was pitching cards and Vitch tossed the {6-Clubs} in when he got a walk, saying it was marked. Seiver wanted to see because he said he was the worst at seeing marked cards. He studied the card but still couldn't discern the crease.

"I can see them right when he throws them," Vitch said. "I just shuffle them to the bottom of my pile right away."

"No wonder he always wins!" Seiver said with a laugh. "That's so scary. That's the scariest thing ever. He probably doesn't even call them all out."

"I've got to call them every now and then to keep it balanced," Vitch joked.

Seiver Catches Becker

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante

A-5 Triple Draw

Johannes Becker raised from the first position and Scott Seiver defended his big, drawing three. Becker took two and tapped back.

They both drew two on the next draw and Seiver led out. Becker stuck around, calling.

Seiver took one and Becker two but Seiver now checked to his opponent. Becker placed in a bet and Seiver threw in the calling chips.

Becker immediately grabbed two of his cards, showing a pair of jacks for a busted hand. Seiver showed {A-}{2-}{3-}{4-}{K-} and picked up the chips from the middle.

Trigeorgis check-called and remained behind in the draw, though both players took one card fewer. Trigeorgis check-called again and patted. Seiver patted behind and bet the end. Trigeorgis took some time but eventually decided to fold.

2-7 Triple Draw

Scott Seiver raised, Chris Vitch called, and short-stacked Luis Velador called in position. All players drew two cards.

Seiver checked to Vitch who fired a bet and Velador raised, getting rid of Seiver. Vitch three-bet and Velador put all his chips in for 80,000 total.

Vitch stood pat and Velador drew one and the procedure repeated on the final draw.

"Number two," Vitch said, rolling over {7-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-}. Velador still had a chance to win as he showed {2-}{3-}{5-}{7-}, but his final card wasn't a four and he left the final table in sixth place.

Seiver Three-Bet Folds the River

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

A-5 Triple Draw

George Trigeorgios raised and only Scott Seiver matched the price, from the big blind. Seiver took three, Trigeorgis two and Seiver check-called.

The second draw saw Seiver discard two and Trigeorgis one and Seiver check-called again.

Seiver then changed one card and Trigeorgis patted. Seiver, however, led out to the pot. Trigeorgis raised but Seiver wasn't done, three-betting. Trigeorgis expressed confusion but then he slid in a four-bet. He put in way too many chips and Seiver reacted: "You just potted right here?"

The amount was soon amended and Seiver tried to figure out his turn. He eventually folded, saying to Chris Vitch that he had four fours.
