Michael Song further increased his stack after taking on Jacob Kalb. Until the river of a board {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}{4-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} there were already 300,000 in the middle and Kalb faced a bet of 220,000 by Song. That ended up forcing a fold and Song chipped up without showdown.

At almost the same time, Ralph Perry was sent to the rail on a different table.

Triple Up for Volpe

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante
Paul Volpe
Paul Volpe

Paul Volpe raised to 35,000 first to act and was called by Jacob Kalb from two seats over. Phil Galfond in the big blind raised the pot to 145,000, Volpe called all in for 64,000 and Kalb called.

On the {4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop, Galfond bet the pot and that forced out Kalb.

Paul Volpe: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}
Phil Galfond: {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}{10-Spades}{3-Hearts}

The {5-Diamonds} turn and {A-Hearts} river changed nothing and Volpe tripled with a set of aces.

Nguyen Busts Lyubovetskiy; Prociak Doubles

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante
Scotty Nguyen
Scotty Nguyen

On the flop of {K-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, Andriy Lyubovetskiy ended up all in and at risk against Scotty Nguyen.

Andriy Lyubovetskiy: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts}
Scotty Nguyen: {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades}

The {Q-Clubs} on the turn was a blank, however, the {J-Clubs} on the river improved Nguyen and a stunned Lyubovetskiy had to leave his seat.

Shortly after one table over, David Prociak was all in for just a few big blinds with the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{9-Spades}{2-Diamonds} on a flop of {Q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}. Jarred Graham put him at risk with the {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for a gutshot and backdoor flush draws. The {K-Spades} turn and {3-Hearts} river were both blanks and Prociak doubled.

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Eli Elezra recently lost heads up to Paul Volpe in the World Series of Poker $10K Omaha Hi/Lo Eight or Better Championship. Although Elezra took home $258,297, he did not take home the coveted WSOP bracelet. Sasha Salinger asks how that 2nd place finish has shaped his summer and who he thinks will be the next generation of high level mixed game poker players.
