Event #40: $2,500 Mixed Big Bet
Day 1 Started
Last year there was a lot of fuss about a new event on the tournament schedule — a "big bet mix" tournament, featuring a rotation of "big bet" games. The format is back for its second year on this year's World Series of Poker schedule, with Event #40: $2,500 Mixed Big Bet set to begin at 3 p.m.
Last year the event consisting of Big O, No-Limit Hold’em, No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw, Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better, No-Limit 5-Card Draw High, Pot-Limit Omaha, and Pot-Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw was won by Jens Lakemeier. He beat a field of 197 players to become the first ever WSOP Mixed Big Bet bracelet winner.
Phil Galfond said on Twitter he is not going to play the event because if he manages to final table this one he would have to miss the $25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha tournament. Even so, this event should attract a lot of players who enjoy both big bet games and mixed games, so we'll be eager to see who enters.
Players start the tournament with 12,500 in chips and the blinds start at 50/75 or 25/50, depending on the game they are playing first. The tournament will use button antes for Pot-Limit Omaha, Pot Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or better, Big-O, Pot Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw and No-Limit Hold'em. Meanwhile there is a regular ante for No-Limit 5-Card Draw High and No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw. Late registration is open for the first eight levels of the day and will close at approximately 12:00 a.m.

Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo
There was already an board out there when David Bach and his opponent got all their chips in the middle. Bach showed for a wheel and a low flush, but his opponent opened up for a wheel and a better flush.
The river was inconsequential and Bach had to give up half of his chips.

Pot-Limit 2-7 Triple Draw
Georgii Belianin raised to 150 and got two calls from Iraj Parvizi and Barry Greenstein in the blinds. Parvizi drew three, Greenstein two, and Belianin one.
It checked to Belianin who bet. Parvizi folded but Greenstein called. Both players drew one and checked.
Greenstein then stood pat, and Belianin drew one. Greenstein checked and folded to a raise.
Other recent additions to the field include Ryan Leng and Alex Foxen.
