Bastian Fischer Eliminated in 11th Place ($23,202)

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Bastian Fischer
Bastian Fischer

From early position, Bastian Fischer moved all in and got called one seat over by Mike Kachan. All other players folded and Kachan didn't want to see any diamonds.

Fischer: {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Kachan: {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}

His wish was only partly granted with the {9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop, but he didn't have to worry much anymore on the {7-Spades} turn and the {J-Spades} river. Kachan made the flush after having had the better hand preflop, and the German missed the unofficial final table.

Salsberg Doubles Up

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Steve Gross opened for 33,000 and Matt Salsberg, who had gotten short, moved all in for 148,000 from the button. The blinds folded and after Gross got a count he made the call hoping to knock a third player out in under an hour.

Gross would need help from the deck, though, as his {k-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} had some catching up to do against the {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} of Salsberg.

The board ran out {3-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades} and Salberg doubled up. In fact, he open-shoved the next hand and picked up the antes and blinds to add a little on top of that.

Michael Marckx Eliminated in 12th Place ($23,202)

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Michael Marckx
Michael Marckx

Viktor Skoldstedt raised to 32,000 and Michael Marckx called from the cutoff to see a {2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop. Skoldstedt continued with a bet of 42,000 and Marckx raised to 100,000 before the Swede moved all in. Marckx threw back his hands, sighed, and eventually folded after one minute.

Only one hand later Marckx was all in for approximately 200,000 and Eric Shanks one seat over moved all in as well. All three players behind them mucked their cards and Marckx was looking for an ace.

Marckx: {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Shanks: {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}

After the {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} flop, a ten would help Marckx and he got exactly that with the {10-Diamonds} on the turn. One card from a possible comeback, he started cheering. However, the brutal {K-Clubs} river gave Shanks the better full house and eliminated Marckx in 12th place.

Daniel Riley Eliminated in 13th Place ($18,180)

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Daniel Riley
Daniel Riley

Daniel Riley opened and Steve Gross thought for a short time before three-betting him from the small blind. Back around to Riley who sat still for a moment before moving all in. Gross snapped him off to put Riley at risk.

Gross showed {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} and Riley had made his move with {q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}.

All eyes were on the board as the cards ran out {j-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and Gross has busted two players on his table in the first level of the day.

Justin Schwartz Eliminated in 14th Place ($18,180)

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Justin Schwartz
Justin Schwartz

Andrew Egan raised to 32,000 from the button and Justin Schwartz moved all in out of the big blind for 218,000 total. Egan didn't waste much time to announce "okay, I call" and turned over the {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. Schwartz was ahead with {A-Spades}{7-Spades}, but the {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} flop was quite a blow, giving Egan a straight.

The {3-Diamonds} turn changed nothing, and Schwartz needed a king to stay alive. The dealer fanned the {8-Diamonds} as final community card and Egan even got a flush on top of the already-made straight to score the knockout.

"That wasn't my day," said Schwartz before heading to the payout desk.

Marckx Doubles Through Schwartz

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

The action folded to Justin Schwartz on the button and short stack Michael Marckx was in the big blind. Schwartz asked for his stack size before making his decision and then went all in. Marckx checked his cards twice and then announced call.

Marckx: {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}
Schwartz: {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

Thrre was no help for Schwartz on the {5-Spades}{J-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} board, and the two players exchanged their roles of middle and short stack.

Robert Merulla Eliminated in 15th Place ($18,180)

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Robert Merulla
Robert Merulla

Robert Merulla opened to 37,000 and Steve Gross three-bet him to 100,000. This had happened in one of the early hands of play and Merulla had folded. This time, however, he moved all in, and Gross quickly called.

Merulla: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Gross: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}

The board ran out {q-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{5-Spades}{8-Clubs}. The turn gave Merulla spade outs for a flush, but the river bricked and he was the second player to fall today.

Michael Spegal Eliminated in 16th Place ($14,407)

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Michael Spegal
Michael Spegal

The action folded to Michael Spegal in the cutoff and he tossed in two T25,000 chips for a raise. One seat over, Eric Shanks on the button asked Spegal how much he was playing in total and then raised all in. All players behind them folded and Spegal called off with a sigh that turned into frustration when they turned over their cards.

Spegal: {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}
Shanks: {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

There was no help on the {4-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} flop for Spegal, then the {Q-Clubs} turn saw him drawing dead. The meaningless {10-Hearts} completed the board and Spegal headed to the payout desk to collect $14,407. All remaining players are now guaranteed at least $18,180.

Blenkarn Doubles Through Marckx

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

After a very cautious start at both tables full of hands ending preflop, we finally had some action. Jeff Blenkarn raised to 48,000 from late position and Michael Marckx moved all in from the button with the superior stack. Blenkarn called off for 296,000 total and it was a flip:

Blenkarn: {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
Marckx: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

The {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{7-Clubs} board meant Blenkarn's nines were best, throwing Marckx to the bottom of the chip counts.
